What a lovely tribute to Mucha’s style! This is a fun combo of illustrative and painted within the framework of art nouveau, and the colors go together nicely. The eyes too, immediately drew my attention – the face if the best realized feature of this piece, I think, and the ear is excellently rendered.

I noticed that you’re looking for some critique on this. I noticed you used a light blue overlaid outline on the circle and a very thin orangebrown outline for the hair and hair ornaments. I’d definitely be curious to see what would happen with a black outline that also wraps around the skin and dress. I suspect it might make the colors pop a bit more (though it might also make the face appear less contrasted in the process, which might take away from how much it stands out).

The other bit that I’d tweak might be the way the cloth was rendered. Because of the way it uses dark and light to create dimension, it becomes (at times) a bit bulgy. The place that’s most obvious is the shoulder – there’s the ball-like curve where it goes lighter, and immediately below it, a ravine where the dark shading seems to be. It almost feels like there was a reference used, and it got away from you, or wasn’t perfect for the body stance/shape of this picture.

That said, the overall effect of the piece is still nice. It’s a commission anyone would be excited to get.

Hope this is helpful and good luck with your art.

thanks for such thoughtful comment! very interesting feedback, and now that you've mentioned, i'd've like attempting the black outline you suggest. on the cloth, i didn't use any more reference than Mucha's work, but yes, i've still got much to learn for rendering cloth, and i do see what you point out now (couldn't before).

thank you very much, it was!
