To avoid multiple posts, actually. This conversation is on the same page as the art, and I expect that Larest can tell the difference between our conversation and my comments on the art. I do apologize if this was not evident to you. Your icon is cool... but I'm wondering why it's not a tabby with flashing eyes?

I still think it would be nicer to tell it to her directly rather than her having to go to the comment you made to me. You didnt even have to add that into the comment to me, just your reply to me and then make another with the praise to her.
Thank you it's my character Tru. And it isnt a tabby because my username is ancient, I havent figured out what to change it to and why must my username be directly linked to my icon? Is there a rule I missed?

It could indeed be clearer than the way I chose to do it, I apologize for any confusion caused by my parsimony. Tru is very cool, kinda creepy, but fun. I do not believe there is a rule regarding usernames and icons being linked, but often they are. I am confused by the generally defensive tone of your replies, I hope you're not feeling pressured to conform or anything, this is deviantArt after all.

I apologize for my tone, but I was a bit annoyed by your tone as well. You seemed to think it was wrong of me for telling you to compliment the artist directly, rather than have her dig for your compliment in comments made to others. I know from my own experience that I rarely read every single comment on my deviations, unless they are sent directly to me. Otherwise, I wont see them until like... 2 years later or so.
As for Tru, thank you, he is meant to be creepy, but also fun. My icon is only one of his forms, which is that of a horse-sized owl-gryphon, but he can also take the shape of a man. He is a very fun character, but also a very dark one and like I said, meant to be creepy. He is associated with darkness, death and decay, but at the same time he has a sense of life to him, that being that he can create plants and such, though based on his primary attributes, they always end up looking rather twisted.
And as for the username and icon thing, I havent really seen anyone with a perfect link between the two parts. But maybe I am looking in the wrong places. Again, I apologize for my tone.

It's all good. Perhaps I just don't get enough comments, I see all the comments on my pages all so it doesn't occur to me that someone else might not see all the comments on their pages. Talking to the artist directly is fine, I didn't want to fill up the page with a bunch of short comments when one would suffice.
Tru sounds really cool, and creepy, which is a lovely combo. I like the idea that while he can create life, it doesn't look quite 'right'.
I don't know anyone with a perfect link between name and icon (at least, not since BleedingCrow changed her name) but in many cases I can see a clear conceptual link. Not all, but many. In fact, now that I know Tru is a griffon, the Tabby=Cat=Griffon=Tru link is complete. Your tone is fine for the internet, I'm sorry I was unclear.

Ah that's alright, glad we could solve this onee peacefully.
I love him, he's on of my three babies. The three being my main characters whom I love dearly because they are such derps. And yes, he does have that issue. He managed to create life "right" once, in the form of a son, but later discovered that his son had inheirited some of his powers and not the good ones. Poor kid doesnt know how to control them. :c Poor ol Tru also has to put up with my other babies, a rather perverted prankster of a dragon and a crazy, flamboyant, hyperactive musical vampire.
