Description Amur Leopard, one of the most extremely endangered felines on the planet. Estimations give less than 40 alive in the wild, not enough to maintain it's kind without help from humans... Zoos like the one I took this picture at try to help, but there aren't many zoos that still have pure amur leopards (i.e. not interbred with other kinds of leopards that look alike). This zoo has "pure ones" - they find out through DNA testing - and they are joined in a program to help introduce new born cubs back into the wild, when they are old enough of course. Only problem here is that these two particular leopards can't stand each other and have to be separated to keep the peace... So they are trying artificial insemination, so far it has not yielded any results, but I still have hope.

Taken at: Blijdorp zoo, Rotterdam, the Netherlands
