Description

Seen in a pier, next to the bay. Native to the Americas, this bird gets its name from the crest on its head, which resembles a crown. With it's hunting grounds being small secluded bodies of water such as estuaries, mangroves, and lagoons, this tern preys on fish (anchovies, weakfish, and croakers), insects, shrimp, small crabs, and even sea turtle hatchlings. This is its non-breeding/winter plumage, as its breeding/summer plumage would be gray below and white above, with a black crest and the bill would be bright orange.
