Description
Here is my rendition of one of my original fantasy horned creatures. It is a posable plushie that I made out of scrap fur, cloth, wire, stuffing, and clay. It is about 10 inches high and 11 inches long. This is my second attempt at making a plush/doll/toy. Any helpful criticisms are welcome.
For the life of me I cannot think of a good species name! Soo a free cookie to the person who suggest a winning name!
For those curious about this species, they are supposed to be a horned and hooved animal on a fantasy and magic-based planet. Unlike other species who were born by the earth on this world, it is said in the myths of old that they were spawned by the living mountains.
They are considerably large animals with numerous varieties and sub-species with different body types and markings (like there are different breeds and subspecies of horses). This one shown above is an example of one of the more ancient and largest varieties.
They can be known to reach heights of over 20 hands and as small as earth deer. They have two horns, however, unlike most earth species, the horns don't lay next to each other. It only grows one set of horns in its life. Both bulls and ewes have them (Although the ewe's horns are smaller). The horns grow to their maximum size once it has reached the middle of it's life and then wears down as it ages or is broken off in fights and duels with their fellow creatures. The one or both of the horns are often removed forcibly during the taming process as removing the horns zaps it of it's will. Imperial and royal mounts are among the few that have kept both horns. For a rider to have a mount with both horns intact shows either the great skill of the rider, or impeccable trust from the mount.
These creatures, especially the wild and non-domesticated versions, are intelligent, highly protective of their herd members, and are extremely aggressive towards any real or perceived threats. They are valued as hunting targets and prospective mounts to be tamed by the rich, are regarded as a nuisance by the people, and revered by the wise. As a result this variety is nearly extinct and a rare sight.
