Sae, this looks stunning! I love the atmospheric use of blue in the background, which contrasts with the vibrant reds and oranges of the leaves, as well as complements the lush green of the foliage. From what I can see, the details look absolutely stunning! Especially the subtle colour changes in the rocks and the tree bark. The young lady you've chosen to paint looks like an absolutely charming figure that suits the piece well too <33 I can't wait to see the final piece!

~ Aww, thank you so much! Haha, yes, there are quite a lot of details in the picture, more than I anticipated. Japanese gardens are always full of hidden views, and every new place you look, you discover a new perspective of the garden. It's a characteristic I dearly love, however the portrait orientation of the drawing wouldn't really allow for it (and it made creating negative space a bit difficult as well). So I had to change my approach to this drawing quite a few times. Haha, I probably ended up with too many details in the end, but I learned many new things about how to create these spaces in future, so I'm happy I discovered a new way to level up my art style.

I was also kinda stuck with the portrait orientation^^ I could have drawn the clouds a lot more higher.
And it's exciting how much everybody gains new experiences with just one drawingXD I learned a lot things about landscapes by doing this!

Ooooo, you too? Haha, yes, portrait proved to be a very unexpected challenge. I thought it would be okay, but then in the middle of coloring, I suddenly realized, ".... ....why isn't this working!?" XD
It's true! You are absolutely correct! Finding ways to overcome the difficulties we encounter in our art provides us with a fantastic experience about what to do and what not to do in our future drawings. This artwork taught me a lot about that, and thanks to this experience, I've learned so many wonderful new things that I can't wait to try out in my next painting.
~ I'm so happy you were able to learn some fantastic new things too, thePingdelf! Let's both work hard toward making even more amazing landscapes! ~

How fun! Still life paintings are a fantastic way to discover new painting techniques. I don't really paint them nowadays, but I used to a lot when I painted with acrylics on canvas. All the techniques I learned from painting still life compositions have stayed with me to this very day.
~ I'm sure your still life painting will turn out great!

~ You're very welcome! As for the artbook contest, Yiamme has extended it because many people were asking for a little more time (it's final exam time for many people). I'm sure she will announce the results of the contest as soon as she can.

Ahhh this is so beautifullll... breathtaking, even! ;O; it's so colourful and THOSE DETAILS... it's nice seeing more detailed people like that in your artworks, too. *_* sdhnsadjha
I'm tempted to get the artbook, but I have some questions about the duration of the preorder period and shipping costs... do you know who I would ask, or whether I should just use the Storenvy contact form? Thank you~

Awww, thank you! Haha, yes, drawing people is not my strength, and so I usually draw them smaller. In the full version, she's actually a bit smaller than this, but I zoomed in a little bit for the previews so people can see the details which are normally lost in the posted digital version. But in the full printed version in the artbook, she'll actually look closer to what you see here when you look at the page.
Sure! The best way is to note the group here on DA and ask Yiamme about the specifics of ordering. She's the founder of the group, and a really nice person! She'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have about pre-ordering the artbook.

~ Awww, thank you so much! I tried a lot of new techniques and a different approach to this painting. It was extremely challenging, so I'm glad some of the textures and colors came across in the end. Haha, since I'm rather slow at painting, the next piece I'll probably upload will be the full version of this one.

Oh dear lord if this is just a preview then I'm gonna die from seeing the full piece *^* and if this is what you've done for this Artbook I'm seriously gonna need a resurrection in order to handle what you'll put forth for Rewritten XDomg the colors in this are just too beautiful! You practically used the entire rainbow without overdoing it! It's pretty difficult for someone to use so many colors and not have them collide! The amount of detail and texture you put into your work is astonishingly beautiful!!! (And this is still just a precise wtf XD) Now I'm not just happy Nila recruited you, I'm overly excited XDD OOOOOOOO I can't WAIT to see what you'll do :3 *bounces up and down in anticipation

~ Awww, that's so sweet of you to say, Vydni! Thank you so much for your incredibly lovely comment! //gets phoenix down out to revive Vyndi
Yes, indeed! I really tried hard to level up my colors and my lighting in this piece, all while trying to figure out how to paint a landscape scene in portrait orientation. Haha, all my techniques are geared for landscape orientation, so it was a very unexpected challenge. But I tried my absolute best to make it look spectacular for the book, and to try to convey all the special things I love so much about Japan's autumn gardens.
I will be starting my sketch for Rewritten Artbook very soon! Working on this artpiece actually gave me a new idea for it, so I'll be testing it out in the sketch.

Thank you, Nyan! ; v ; Haha, yes, it took quite a while, for it was quite a challenge. I always find that the things that are the most dear to my heart are the most difficult for me to draw. But this time around, I really wanted to give it my all.
