I feel compelled to write something here. Even though this is an older piece, I've been browsing my past deviation updates and checking out numerous pieces. Most of them are of pretty good quality, but you know, seeing good art on dA isn't that really out of the norm. But I was drawn to this particular image for some reason.
That reason is in part the pose, and in part the character design. The composition works really well (even if she seems to be posing more as a pin-up girl than anything else). The one thing that I wonder though is... that's a tail I am seeing? And is she wearing a mini-skirt or shorts? In either case, I've always been a bit puzzled by how exactly people manage to get their pants to work together with tails.
The next thing I wonder about is... the blade/weapon. I see two handles behind her head, meaning she could most likely be wearing dual weapons, however I only notice one huge blade on the lower part of the picture. What was meant to be the other one? Or is it a more eccentric large blade with a divided dual grip? I just wonder about the details to complete the image.
So many braids is somewhat nightmarish, but you've managed well in paying attention to each and every one of them. For that matter, your art style is slightly different from what I used to remember (heck, it's been years, so that should be no wonder). Many of your pieces as I've seen them lately seem to have settled down into a soft, american comic kind of style (earthly, mostly non-saturated colours, thick lineart, a mostly soft shading that's a bit beyond cell-shading); some may think it a bit simple, but it works very well, and it is definitely not THAT simple, the images do get a good touch of depth. So for that matter, I guess your style does work for you, and makes your artwork more easily recognizable.
Ah well, I am delighted, thanks for your art! I shall go back into the depth of the shadows that spawned me now

She's wearing shorts; the image is based off of a photo of an original actual costume by the commissioner...I think the tail was just clipped on but it's not too much of a stretch to design shorts with a hole for tails if you have one XD And the sword is really big with two handles attached.
