Precisely.
So what do you think about this one? The background, the effects, the colors, Neya, the atmosphere of this picture? Do you get the same sort of sense that she does?

It gives you an eerie "There's no turning back" feeling.

It does have that vibe to it, and it is also suppose to give the audience a sense of "being alone".
I might add that the Phantom Realm was inspired by many things. Greek mythology, DOOM, 'Dark' Aether, and old photos I've seen of the First World War.

What's interesting about this scene for me is that I had to listen to certain music to get the vibe and feel for it. It just wasn't working without it, and that is NOT me, heck I usually listen to radio or commentary while I work.
The one that struck the right chord for the mood on this one was this piece: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPpYeZβ¦
Have you read Chronicle of the Size Shifter? This is a scene from that story.

It's meant to convey the message this image puts out. You may like it actually, but it's not as action-filled as your Arcs are.

Not in this one at least. This story about Neya's odyssey through the Phantom Realm relies more on the subtleties and unknown quantities, in addition to the enigmatic atmosphere to convey a sense of surrealism to the reader. It compels a convincing set of remarkable characters to deliver a performance that really makes it seem as though this truly is a world of lifeless and boundless existence.
But most importantly, it has the aim of leaving the reader with the desire to know more about the Phantom realm and more of what happens after Neya's passing. I should hope it does this well.

That works, in the meantime- have you seen the other piece that goes with the story?

Whenever you do get around to it, let me what you think of the story though- I'm not much of a writer but I have a feeling there will be another time that I'll have to type up something else again...

For starters it's my earliest piece and it shows. Second, looking back, it just isn't how I wanted to portray Neya or any other characters at the time. In addition, It was suppose to introduce us to both Ixora and Nana but they never appeared in the story and were placed on the backburner for Light Sapphire, although the boxart shows Ixora on the front cover. So there are some inconsistencies that I need to address and I feel that the story on the Boxart, which is an alternative to the original, makes for a better story- if written right.

It's probably a natural occurrence for writers and artists. Recently I've been toying with the idea of doing before/after comparison images of some of my pieces to show how far along I've come.

I can't reveal too much, but it's Virgo Tuus, which takes place after the events of Virgo Nostras. Gala is tiny and befriends a very familiar face, and goes on to face Talia to prove her "worth" to Ixora. Meanwhile, Peli is officially a Skiptracer for Ixora who longs to find Talia and works together with Gala. Additionally, Virgo Tuus will be followed by Virgo Mea, which is the last third of the Virgo Trilogiam. In Virgo Mea, Gala is set free and restored to normal by Ixora but events that occur prevent Gala from going back to Jakarin, and instead embarks on an incredible odyssey to rid herself of the remaining power that Ixora has over her. Gala will be hunted by Humans, learn how to survive, survive a tornado, become a Privateer and go back to the Uncharted Lands which she met Peli in, forgive her Human foster mother as she dies, (not joking about this next one) kill Opal, actually join an Army and fight in a war, become the only non-Light to challenge Ixora to a duel and WIN, and finally she will get married and become pregnant with a son- and then comes the heartbreaker that you may remember. Sure I told you a lot, but the devil is in the details.

It doesn't matter. As long as the story is written, it'll be fine by me.
Ok. I'll note you.
