I have some such works in my gallery, but I'm not a big fan of totally realistic drawings, in my opinion they're just boring .

What you do is exactly how I learned to draw. I am self taught,most of the stuff I draw out of my head these days are alot better then I used to be! Just keep practicing and eventually you will get there. I started drawing when I was a little girl. A coupke of the things on my deviant account are from back when I was in middleschool, between 10-12 I did a cover of one of Piers anthony's Dragons gold, smallbook cover but blew it up in my sketchbook. I could never afford art classes and such so I would challenge myself by drawi g what I saw. The hardest thing to do by looking at something is a live object, like an animal or person, because there are no definate lines. But really, comming from someone who got where she is today by drawi g by sight, same as I play music by ear not read music, keep at it! Just remember to always ask the origional artists permission before posting on deviant. Or, if its a world known author/artist book cover, just remember to give the names ^_^

I always will give credit but some of my drawings I forgot who did it because I never thought of putting my drawings on worldwide (here) but I do remember some and I will say if it's someone else s drawing. And my profile's pic, I drew that in 6th grade and I'm in 8th grade now but I improved so much!And I showed my drawings to my brother's best friend and he was amazed because he said I drew like a professional artists like I was 30 or something and also said (something like this) If you could draw this at this age imagine what you can do when you're older ... Something like that he I don't remember exactly what said he said but I felt so proud of myself. I am also self taught. I come up with stuff with my head but I always fail to draw it XD but lately I have been drawing out of my head but It's not as good as I thought and what I do when I see draw. and I can't draw people but I'm practicing X3. Thank you very much tho for the encouragement

Bah i know its soo frustrating when you can look at a pic and draw it fi e, then see this amazing image in your head completly your own, try to draw and and go, omg this is not fair lmao. My internet is awful, so i have not put much up here. Sometime when i get the chance ill post my old stuff and new stuff. I am now able to draw portraits from my photographs, with alotnof time and pacients. I took a photo of my two children and managed after alot of frustration to draw them ^_^ made me very happy. But yeah I used to get similar comments back in 6th and 7th grade. I have never been confident in my abilities, and tended to manage a polite thank you without really thinking much about my art. But to see how far I have come is great. I definatly have to day if drawing is something you love to do, never stop. Just keep at it. Do not do what I did. All throughout high school i had my step father at my back telling me to get my head out of my fantasy and my books and do something useful with my life. "Thats great and all but you cant possibly think people make a living off art" when i graduated high school, I fell out of drawing for almost 6 years because he had made me lose ALL confidence in my abilities, just when i had been starting to get to like my art. I started drawing again about a year or more ago, dabbling here and there, i went from drawing dragons horses gryphons and mythical creatures to flowers and sceanery, something id never been so great at. Now Im getting into Anthro charecters, more fantasy, portraits and other thibgs. The worst mistske I ever made was listening to anothers negitive critisizm, i have ALOT of catching up to do. If i had never stopped drawing i feel like id be alot better then i am now. So please do yourself a favor and never give up on something you love, youll regret it later trust me!

that's awful that you're step dad would do that. when I was younger I always thought there wasn't in point in art because there wasn't any good jobs for it like a art teacher or just someone who sells their art I tried to stop but I love it  then (this year) I realized I could be an Animator for real movie. Like draw scary creatures/monsters (for ex. Venom from spiderman) and make it real. But I won't stop drawing not ever til I die at least
