Don't know so much about the words, but the concept is solid. I've always loved to pretend that Javert has this sort of obsession with Valjean, I mean, why else would you follow one man around for years?! All he did was break parole and steal a loaf of bread! Get over it! Think of all the other men you let get away because you were too preoccupied! Anyway, I think it's cuz he loves him... Discuss!What do you think?

Actually...In the play, it isn't discussed as much, but in the book, it IS stated that while Valjean WAS on his list of thigns to do, most of the time he was capturing other criminals. He DOES arrest all of the Theirnadeir gang before he even knows Valjean is in the same city. He, in fact, only goes back to chasing Valjean whenever he is CERTAIN (and I mean concrete proof) that Valjean is around. He lost the man more than three times in the book as opposed to the play, and while he DID want to get him, he put other, bigger (Or more readily available) tasks first.
Since I imagine you got this from the play, I can understand the shipping, though XD.

With the relationship between Javert and Valjean, I can't help but think of it as Javert having this HUGE crush on Valjean, and that he obsesses over him (to the point where it gets kinda weird.) If the movie took place now in 2013, Javert would leave anonymous texts and calls and stalk Valjean on Facebook.

(Even though I have to remark that the french law back then JUST WAS THIS WAY - second offense, no matter what will bring you livelong prison - and Javert was very devoted to the law - and well, him being so overly obsessed is a Flanderization done by the musical. They had to cut corners.)
