Description I recently went on a Fruits Basket kick. The series just ended in Japan about a month ago, which put me in the mood to relive the magic. So I just spent the last week re-reading volumes 1-14, which was convenient because volume 15 came out on Tuesday. I got it yesterday, which was doubly convenient because I just finished reading 14 on Thursday night, so it flowed very well. It's amazing how much foreshadowing you notice when you re-read it knowing (for the most part) how it ends.

BUT ANYWAYS.

So, in volume 15, Kyo/Tohru/Yuki's class puts on Cinderella as a play...although, it winds up becoming "Sorta Cinderella." Alas, Kyo and Tohru were unable to share a dance (much to Kyo's chagrin), but I just couldn't help thinking how cute it might have been! So, without further ado, here they are! Yay! Also, this picture is based on the ball scene from the Disney Cinderella, hence the title. Also also, their costumes are the ones they wore in the manga, but I guessed on the colors, so hopefully they're right. It seems like it went well.

Fruits Basket, Kyo and Tohru, and the costumes (c) Natsuki Takaya.

I love all the foreshadowing the author does. She has 1 pic of that whole hat incedent in the 1st book. and (i think) in the 3rd book she has shigure thinking about the dream that woke him hatori and aaya up crying.

you really got the expressions right
kyo's trying to act all aloof, but he's so in love with tohru he can't take his eyes off her
and tohru's just blissfully happy to be dancing with kyo

(incedentally, since we presume kyo wouldn't want to dance in any case, i wonder what he would do if an opportunity to dance with tohru DID arise?)

I know it would be really awkward, but really cute. ^_^

(P.S. I love vol. 17! It's probably my favorite. The last three have been chart-toppers in my book. I loved the part where Kyo gave Tohru the flower! And I love that Akito/Shigure is out in the open now, bwa-ha-ha)

That part where Kyo gave Tohru the flower was amazing! That's the first time we've really seen him show his soft side. Did you notice the "...about you." in there. It's a quote from when Shigure was saying, "I care about you more than anybody else. And THAT is the irrefutable truth." (or something like that) It made me squirm in my chair and go "MEEP!!!!"

I've finally decided where I was going when I was describing Kyo's expression. He has the expression he uses when he says, "You're hopeless." ("but I still love you" was the finished thought in his head i always say)

but kyo refused to dance with tohru in the manga...so if you combined it with the disney cinderella...wouldn't it really be him dancing with saki,or did you just wanted it to be Kyo and Tohru?(im just trying to understand the pic)But overall,it looks very nice

"Alas, Kyo and Tohru were unable to share a dance (much to Kyo's chagrin), but I just couldn't help thinking how cute it might have been!"

Kyo turned her down, but then when he saw who he'd barked, "I SAID NO!" to, he started to stop himself, but the narrator had already moved on with the story.

Basically, I wanted to draw Kyoru. Also, I used a scene from Disney's Cinderella as the model for their pose, not for the storyline.

ACK!!!!!!! I'm overcome by the CANONNESS of it all! I like how when she asks him to dance, he's like, "NO!" but then realizes it's her and is all, "Wait! Come back!" You know this is his fantasy...
