"The world looks so beautiful from up here in space, but my grandfather says the people who live there have to face many problems. That's why you were created, to help those people. Shadow, I beg of you. Give them a chance to be happy!"

            Good morning! Did you order emotions for breakfast today? No? Well, you're getting them as a side dish anyway.

               I got inspired by looking at some artwork of Shadow and Maria to do this. I've only drawn Maria twice before, so I wanted to give it a shot since I still need more practice with humans. This is my second drawing to be completely drawn from start to finish on my tablet. On a different note, I think I find starry backgrounds oddly fun to create.

              Shadow's backstory is really intriguing, and probably one of the Sonic characters to have the most depth in their history. I've never gotten to play Sonic Adventure 2 yet, but I know the story from Sonic X, watching a few clips from the game, and playing a bit of the Shadow the Hedgehog game. Not to mention stuff I've read about it. Imagine being created for the purpose of finding a way to cure a terminally ill person, only for that person to be needlessly killed by the hands of the government. But despite Shadow's distress over loosing Maria, initially wanting to avenge her, along with his disdain for humanity, he remembered his promise to her that while there is bad in the world, he needed to give people a chance at life. That was Maria's wish and she told him that was the purpose of his creation. It's just an interesting story.

            Its nice doing artwork with more depth to it. Even though this is only my second thing to finish this year so far, I'm happy about the direction things are going right now compared to last years' artistic improvement. I want this to keep up. Here's hoping! Now, someone, give Shadow a hug. T^T
