Here I am with yet another Koopalings fanart!! This time, I wanted to design humanised designs for them because I often see people imagining their own versions of gijinka Koopalings, so I decided to give my take on them!

I'm gonna talk about their designs here (it's gonna be a loooong one so bear with me here):

Morton: Morton's design is definitely the most basic out of the bunch. I made his hair white because I think it looks good on dark skinned characters, and I also gave him a three hair cowlick to make it look like the three hairs he has on his head. As for his clothes, I wanted to add a little more visual interest by giving him ripped pants, and I kept the spiky cuffs eventhough I didn't add them for the rest of the characters.

Roy: Like with Morton, his design is on the simple side. I gave him a tan skin tone, as Roy strikes to me as the kind of guy who would tan frequently, and I tried to make him more muscular as well. So as not to make him 100% bald, I gave him a baseball cap with the same colour as his head. Of course the sunglasses don't change, because we can't see Roy without his sunglasses, right? For the clothing I gave him fingerless gloves, a tank top and baggy pants because I thought he'd look cool.
Wendy: For Wendy, I based the looks almost entirely on her personality. She's often portrayed as spoiled, bratty and bossy, and I think I nailed it! I gave her a curly-ish blonde hair and a simple yet cute pink dress. Her design is sorta inspired in 1950s clothing, and overall I'm pretty pleased with how it looks.

Larry: Larry's design was probably the trickiest for me. Whenever I design characters I usually base their looks on their personality traits, but I couldn't really do that with Larry because I feel his personality isn't as fleshed out as the rest of the Koopalings. So instead of personality I went with stuff the character is known to like; in Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga (and remake) he's seen with a tennis racket and he even appeared in a Mario & Sonic Olympic Games, so he's most likely into sports. Because of that, I gave him a sporty outfit, something comfy and appropriate to play sports; and in Mario Kart 8, in the Electrodome stage, he's seen on the screen as a DJ, so he must also be into electronic music. So I gave him headphones with drawings of blue stars to represent the star tatoos he has on both sides of his head.

Lemmy: In the video games, Lemmy is mostly portrayed as childish, innocent and playful, and probably prefers to star in a circus instead of fighting and help Bowser kidnap the princess. To reflect that, I gave him a clown/harlequin like costume which he could wear in an actual circus and perform tricks on his ball. I know he has a mohawk much like Larry, but I didn't want the human Koopalings's designs to be too similar to one another, so I transformed the mohawk into a big multicoloured fringe, left the side bald and kept the ponytail.

Ludwig: For Ludwig, I knew exactly what I wanted for his human design. Ludwig always stood out to me as a prodigy kid type, intelligent, always gets straight A's at school and comes from a rich and privileged family that can afford anything their heart desires. So I gave him fancy, expensive clothes that reflect his smart yet arrogant personality, and his desire to prove his superiority to everyone else. I kept the magic wand as he could use it like a conductor's baton when fighting. I'm pretty happy with the design and it's definitely one of my favourites.

Iggy: Same as with Ludwig, I also knew what I wanted for his design. For his hair, I made it look messy and unkept, like he always has bed hair, and I gave him a ponytail in the shape of his pinapple-esque hair. For his glasses, I didn't want to deviate too much from the official design so I slightly modified it to include a bridge for the nose. I also kept the ring-shaped eyes and gave him eyebags, since he looks like the type of person who barely gets any sleep due to his hyperactiveness. As for the clothing, Iggy is often depicted as the craziest of the Koopalings, so I gave him a straightjacket, because I sometimes see fanarts of him wearing one, and I also think villains in straightjackets (eg: Ripper Roo from Crash Bandicoot or Psycho Weasel from Who Framed Roger Rabbit) is an interesting concept in and of itself, because it gives you an insight of their declining sanity. Undoubtedly my favourite design eventhough it went through several redesigns before finally settling on this one.
