Description Reworked version of one of the protagonists of the VN project I'm supposed to complete by July 15... (;w ; ) Follow this link to see the atrocious work I did almost a year ago lol fav.me/dbcjurc
Which reminds me... I still need to draw his yawning expression (;u  ;   )

DAMN, AFTER DOING ALL OF THIS I WANT TO REDRAW ALL THE CHARACTERS AGAIN BUT I HAVE TO STOP MYSELF UUURRRGGGHHHAAAAAAAAHHHHHH.

Okay I stopped myself (´・ω・`)

Also, I promised to draw nothing but backgrounds this month... but alas, drawing nothing but backgrounds made me a bit weird, so I think I'll draw something else this week and try to make up for it on one of the weeks next month...

A question for everyone: I tried to use different line weights for each portrait with the one on the top left being the thickest, and the bottom left being the thinnest....
which of these weights do you think look better?

I know its an amateurish question to which the answer is probably, "it depends", but I'm in a pseudo art block in the sense that I can still churn out drawings, but everything I see looks like shit, even the drawings of other people that I enjoy viewing. Everywhere I look, I only see the damn errors that prevent me from enjoying the concepts brought forward by art... so... I can only rely on your eyes (;w ;  ) so if you can, please let me know whether something looks right or wrong, so I can use it as an empirical reference from which to gauge my the affordance or tolerance of my errors.

UPDATE: Changed some lighting... ARRGGHHH WHY DOES EVERYTHING LOOK LIKE CREPE
UPDATE 2: Fixed faces yet again.

redrawing character is never a bad thing though. it showed how much of an improvement that can be done, and fixing the mistakes of the designing in the past

so.. this is a good thing! XD

I like the first portrait the most, in this case. But I usually draw thin lines to make it more "realistic" I dunno, it's about personal preference I guess.

If we are giving advices to each other and helping us to improve then -  I'd make some shadows in the face "more sharp" and maybe a bit different skin color, like less orange or I dunno. And maybe more shadows in hair.    Or that's how I see it with my eyes, everything I wrote can be totally wrong or just it's depending on the style what you like. Again wanna mention that you shouldn't take my advice so seriously, because you have more experience than me.

Anyway, it's great drawing. ^^

Thank you so much for commenting and letting me know your opinions (;w ;  ) I am very glad receive such detailed pointers! I'll try out your suggestions for the next work and see if there are any noticeable differences... Maybe I'll even draw a quick study to examine how these things work...

And don't worry, any advice given to me will be generously accepted and internalized. Even if I might have spent more time drawing, I can't see beyond what I have drawn, and can't examine it with a fresh pair of eyes that might be better at seeing whats wrong with the drawing... so I need your help too! I personally prefer the thicker lines.

There isn't much contrast on the skin color going from the head to the neck.

So it kind of blends in when the jaw-lines that actually have a darker color don't prevent it from doing that visually.

Thanks for commenting SeeM2U;Green! Yeah, I figured as much. Maybe I should increase the contrast between the values if I want to make the lineart  thinner... Well.. Looks like its time to redo the shading again...! (´・ω・`)
