I haven't really considered doing gray tones on my pen and ink pieces. It wasn't something that particularly interested me though I recall seeing plenty of other artists that added gray tones to their inktober pieces. c:Β
Inktober is hard, but a fun challenge. You can still participate even if you don't do a drawing for everyday, that's very difficult to do. The only way I managed to keep up was to plan sketches ahead of time and even then it burnt me out pretty badly at the end of the month.Β

That's a little unfortunate to hear. Grey tone copic markers are fun to work on. I'm thinking to try watercolour with only black; wet and little colour on the tip is enough to create grey and not black. That's what I will try someday.
Yeah, it looks lots of fun. I wish I could try but I must focus on own health. Burnouts and lack of sleep are not funny to deal with directly.

There's a few challenge in autumn that I've seen people put together; Sketch-tember, Ink-tober, and Hue-vember. Sometimes people will take their sketches from September, ink them in October, and add a colour pallet in November. It may be worth revisiting some of the ink drawings I did with gray tone copics, but at the time I was far too frazzled keeping up with the challenge to add more to the drawings. XD Maybe I'll try that this year?Β

Maybe have a backlog of sketches ready?
I should really make an attempt at this again next year....

That's what I'm thinking. There's "sketchtmeber" in September, and should I decide to participate next year I'll try to do the sketch challenge and then ink them for "inktober"Β

Yas! We did it! This was my first time finishing inktober, all 31 days! Man that was harder than I anticipated, but still a ton of fun. I do wonder how can people do this every year though? X'D

I wanted to sort of have the chops to say 'I did it' and I'm really happy I did in the end (especially considering how this was one of the busiest months of the year for me)Β but I think I won't be doing it again, at least not for awhile.Β

Same same, now we can both proudly say we completed the inktober challenger for 2017. I know I'm certainly pleased (and exhausted) and I hope you're proud of yourself as well! I don't know about you, but I definitely need a brain break before jumping into a new project.Β
If I decide to participate again next year, maybe I'll try to combine the "sketchtember" challenge with "inktober" so I'll more or less have a month's worth of sketches saved up for inking. Even when I was able to sketch ahead, what I found the most challenging was coming up with new ideas, especially towards the end.

I'd probably try "November, 'huevember" the idea behind is to draw something with a diffrent color theme for the entire month, I won't do it this year but next year I might. It sounds really fun. Sktchtember sounds cool too but my sketches are almost illegible. I wouldn't want to clutter my gallery with that.

"Huevember" sounds like fun, a bit like those pallet challenges I've seen around, but not after "inktober". I need a long nap first, I'm burnt out. XD Maybe I'll try that next year as well, we'll see how things pan out.Β
If I did the Sketchtember challenge, I wouldn't personally post my sketches to my DA gallery as I prefer that for my finished work. I'd use it more as a way to collect sketches for Inktober if only to save myself the trouble of both sketching and inking during the challenge.Β
Either way, this was a fun challenge and exercise. I'll definitely be on the look out for another one once I've had a chance to rest. XD

I think that's the point actually...
It would make sense. Sketchtember-- make the sketches, ink them in Inktober, and then color them in Huevember. Really intensive.Β

saki-noir In reply to SkyroreDraws [2017-11-01 05:05:14 +0000 UTC]
That would certainly be a commitment, completing all three challenges.
Do you think you'll colour any of your Inktober pieces? I've toyed around with the idea of colouring my personal favourites of the ink pieces, but I'm unsure just yet.Β

SkyroreDraws In reply to saki-noir [2017-11-01 05:19:38 +0000 UTC]
I also thought about it...Thing is I'm not sure which, since I know the ones I want to color wouldn't get much attention, while others that I'm not entirely fond of, would get way more attention. It's a stupid conflict but its one I think of anyway.

saki-noir In reply to SkyroreDraws [2017-11-01 14:50:07 +0000 UTC]
Its not a stupid conflict at all. I'm going to promote self indulgence though and say colour the ones you like best; I can't imagine you'll be nearly as pleased with the end results if you try to push on with the pieces you aren't fond of.Β
If I colour any, I'm going to colour my personal favs. If only because I want to explore new colouring techniques, I know I'll be more inclined to push forward with the pieces I like and want to see all polished up and pretty. The choice is completely up to you though, that's just my humble potato ramblings on the subject. XD
