One of my favorite pictures of Mei. The robe is quite a unique way to give it some depth; I like how it shows off her shoulders. You used just the right amount of clothes to balance it between exposure and temptation/mystery. The proportions of her breasts are a lot more realistic than lower quality pictures, but they're still eye-catching, thanks to the shirt pushing them up. The little detail of the shirt strap showing the curve of her right breast is one of the many details that sets this picture apart. I love the way her curves look, how she's not just a skinny anime girl with big breasts. Amazing picture, not only in a sexual sense, but just as art. I'll be sure to watch for more Mei pics like this in the future.

You clearly have a really good understanding of anatomy and bodies, i love the way the clothes press into her and change the shape— having the little tops above the socks and above underwear + shorts, and the way the the bra and shirt holds her breasts. It’s an extremely polished drawing, and the way you have the clothes shaping her body realistically makes it feel alive. I’m gonna link this to people who I know will appreciate it. It’s nice to see art that’s so skillfully in shading and anatomy and realism. So much hyper-realism prefers a more styalized approach to bodies, and getting to see the body squish like a real body does is just very nice.

i absolutely love your style <3 my response to the debate below is that this picture did nothing but boost my self esteem! i always thought 'thick' was unattractive to guys, but seeing the positive comments makes me feel a bit better about myself! Also, this girl doesn't have a 'thigh-gap' she just has that 'v' shape between the upper thighs which most wide-hipped girls have including me... i LOVE seeing these kind of proportions and I don't think they're unobtainable at all!

hey i hope you know that despite your obvious skill with literally everything else, your anatomy and depiction of bodies is terrible. And I assume you know that and just give your girls terrible proportions to profit off horny fanboys, but just in case you don't, she would have to have an impossible bone structure to have a thigh gap, as chubby as she is. She wouldn't have a flat stomach and you sure AS FUCK wouldn't be able to see her fucking hip bones. Make big girls soft, you coward. Your depictions present an extremely unrealistic ideal image that hurts real girls and women.

or you could notice that she's not meant to be depicted as chubby here, she's curvy and the tight clothing is just making her seem that way. lmfao
also, as someone who isn't a horny fanboy and does love chubby girls, i think you're a goddamned fool

Lol, seriously? xD One of the points of art is being able to create things that don't exist in reality, and not being bound by reality. If everything is supposed to be realistic, why bother with drawings or paintings when you can just take photographs? And I hate to break it to you, but if real girls and women are hurt by a stranger on the internet drawing a fictional character in a specific way, they have much larger issues that they should either try to figure out with a therapist's help, or just spend their life living in a bubble. Your SJW antics are misplaced here.

I do agree with your point about art being about expression of ideas and realism is indeed not needed in them. I think people take issue with what artists decide to portray and maybe what that says about the artist. And by this i mean, what values and messages they show.

Dude, have you looked at my stuff? I love stylized work and I actually think hyper realistic stuff is ... kind of boring. And I love the abstractions of the faces for example. But honestly, I'm not even going to try to explain to you that this is a part of a bigger picture and the extremely unrealistic depictions of especially women's bodies in media DO affect people and their expectations hugely. If I had a penny for every guy that posts pics of photoshopped or drawn girls with huge curves and thigh gaps calling them their ultimate girl and holding real girls to these standards, I would make more money than the lovely artist who drew this makes by pandering to horny fanboys. And you calling me an SJW after simply pointing this out kind of disqualifies you from any rational discourse.

OK, so what exactly is your proposed solution here? No one should ever draw females with unrealistic proportions? Or maybe they should draw them, but keep it hidden from public view? Should all women in media be average or below-average looking? What do we do with all the real women who happen to be good looking and/or have great proportions by winning the genetic lottery? Are they also promoting unrealistic expectations with their mere existence, and should therefore never leave the house or something?
No matter who you are, there will always be someone out there who's better looking, more intelligent, has more money, or some other advantage over you. Are all those people supposed to strive for the lowest common denominator so other people don't feel bad about themselves or something? Might be easier to face reality, recognize the strengths and weaknesses in the deck of cards you've been given, and play accordingly rather than trying to force everyone else to play with the same deck you have.
But all of that is talking about real people in the real world. In the context of drawings or any other fictional media, your argument is completely ridiculous because it's not reality, and anyone who's basing their expectations of reality on non-reality obviously has some sort of dissociative mental disorder that should be treated. According to your logic, vast amounts of people expect to be able to fly, bend steel beams with their hands, fire lasers out of their eyes and have x-ray vision because Superman does, consequently feel bad about themselves when they can't, and so we should probably ban Superman.

I mean... you're still trying to apply standards to a pin-up artwork, which is meant to be alluring. Personally, this is one of the better pictures of Mei that I've seen, where she's not been inflated unnecessarily because yes - a lot of people would love to see more diversity in media so feel the need to retrofit a character to their ideals, or where she's been drawing as your regular petite anime girl because an artist can't really move much outside of the standard they've set for themselves and their audience has set for them. Trying to hold what is a genre of artwork based in eroticism responsible for an unrealistic standard for women is, in itself, unrealistic. When sexuality comes into play, people always want to over-present the aspects of the body that are found attractive in erotic media because that works to allure others and get attention, and these depictions are very rarely expected to be taken as realistic, definitive or in any way an absolute and true representation of an actual regular female or male body.
This is not as bad as it gets, the fact that it IS meant to be sexual is advertised so you repeatedly saying that "oh, it's meant to appeal to horny fanboys" is correct and no surprise to anyone, and kind of pointless because WE KNOW. We ALL know. And guess what? If a bunch of young dudes thinks that this is what real women look like, they're gunna be disappointed. If that is your concern, blame a system that doesn't educate about healthy sexual habits and healthy, realistic body standards for males and females. The focus for this sort of semi-activism is better on mass media that does not aim to be sexual, but still promotes unrealistic body types, if you're going to do anything. Advertising, maybe, and he photomanipulation of real women's bodies to combine sex with advertising? What about the way prominent females are depicted in children's media, the way stereotypes are used to reinforce character archetypes - basically, anything else that would actually help and make a lasting impact.
All I can think of is that maybe there was something else bothering you about this? Because your tone in the initial comment seemed more about being aggressive and attacking the artist over actually promoting any space for discourse.

I guess that pin-up argument is at least kind of fair, even though pin-ups and pornographic works still do have an effect on the consumer and that is without a doubt. I think the reason this image in particular bothers be a lot is because Mei is like the only example of a bigger girl that is depicted as sexy in any way that comes to my mind and her depiction on the net just sets a standard that is ... literally impossible. But from 9gag posts and other sources of incredible bullshit I KNOW that people are actually saying stuff like "this is the only kind of big girl that I'll accept". And you know, with big girls it's not even mostly about finding them sexy, it's often about just ... respecting them as people. And a lot of people don't seem to be capable of that unless they perceive the person in question as sexually attractive.
My point is, she wouldn't have been less sexy with a bigger stomach or without the thigh gap. Or at least she shouldn't be, but that's what we've been conditioned to think. (And I know many people like to say that's not true and that our modern beauty standard is defined by biological factors, but if you look at women's beauty standards over time and in other cultures, you'll quickly find that all kinds of body types are represented, which pretty much proves that it's tied to cultural norms and deviates over time and from place to place.)
But the thing is, many people don't know that this is just "stylized" and "overdrawn for the sake of the erotic fantasy". Speaking from first hand experience, I used to look up to artists like her, drawing girls the way she does, and almost everybody did it! So I came to accept that was just the way pretty girls worked. I genuinely believed that was how female anatomy looked like when you've got "the right figure". It took forever for me to realize that thigh gaps only happen when there's like .... no fat at all on your thighs. And even longer to stop myself from looking into the mirror and trying to bend and twist my legs make it look like I had one and then continuing to beat myself up about it. And just from looking at people's casual, non-sexual art here on deviantart and elsewhere, you know that I'm not the only one.
Furthermore, this picture isn't even outright sexual. It borders on Pin-Up, but honestly, generally it passes well as SFW and just normal fanart, at least to me and some people I showed this to. So the Pin-up argument kind of gets lost even more than it would on other works by her.
And yes, you are right, a lot of people do Mei a lot worse than Sakimi, but that doesn't mean she is immune to criticism. Trump's surely not as bad as Hitler, but he sure as hell is bad. (I don't mean to compare Sakimi to either, I'm just trying to get my point across.)
Same goes for criticizing other types of media. Totally with you there! But it's kind of hard to adress the bigger picture without adressing the individual parts of it. Also, again, just because there's worse doesn't mean this isn't bad.
Tbh, you're right I got worked up. This made me pretty angry. Mostly because I know that she KNOWS how to draw women and just does this on purpose. And that she makes a FUCKTON of money off of it. Even though, to each their own I guess. Honestly, if someone suggested to me getting like 20,000 bucks a month by drawing sexy video game babes with huge tiddies and tiny waists, idk if I'd decline. But she made that decision and she is popular and influential and she knows it. And for 20,000 a month she can put up with some damn criticism from time to time.
Sorry for the long rant, if you want to drop this discussion it's honestly fine, or if you just want to have the last word, idc. I don't see the point of this anymore and I am actually starting to feel kind of bad for dragging this out under Sakimi's artwork. After all she's just making a living. And as you said, there's bigger problems.

lol nobody holds real girls to these standards people are allowed to like what they like whether you like it or not, if what somebody else fantasizes about proportions bother you so much maybe you need to get off the internet for a while and go take a nap, you do look like a bit of an sjw :l this artist is allowed to draw whoever and whatever they'd like and you have no right to come here and tell them "draw big girls soft" check the picture again she IS soft look at her body, oh no she has a thigh gap because she's lifting up one of her legs and has bone structure OH NO NOT BONE STRUCTURE AAA seriously <-<..? let people enjoy things you're the same type of person who looks at a barbie and thinks oh no this is what guys want women to look like..seriously =_="..

Uhm, people do. If you think they don't then why do most boys expect a flat stomach from girls, even though the female body is literally designed to have a fat deposit there. This is just one thing honestly, but trust me, as I said, you'll find enough fuckboys posting photoshopped girls and calling them the ideal body. This influences everyone, some more, some less.
And yes, they totally are allowed to do that, and I am allowed to dislike what I want! And as I said, judging from your tone, I don't suppose it's worth the finger cramps trying to explain to you why and how sexualised, objectified and unrealistic body-expectations hurt real people.
She's only soft in the places where it's "sexy". I suppose you've never met a real girl, otherwise you'd know that this kind of fat distribution is basically impossible. By soft I mean give her a fucking belly. As every girl has. And she especially.
And that comment about the thigh gap just seriously proves that you have no idea how bodies work. Look at a girl. Any girl. Please. Here, for example: www.dumpaday.com/wp-content/up…
this is a girl with a similar body type as her in a similar pose. If that's a thigh gap then Jesus was white.
Nah, it works a bit differently with barbies because they're marketed and girls and set the standards for them which are only indirectly dictated by men, but again, you're not worth the effort explaining this because you'll just call me an SJW again in an effort to invalidate my argument because you can't argue against it.
