Description This is a HUGE file

So many of you have probably read the journal from before we started the project. ~KiusLady and I did actually complete the project in about 23 hours, and we're a little surprised we lived to tell about it. Thankfully, we went at it in two half-days, because that brief amount of sleep and lack of sewing made a world of difference.

There were so many hidden issues with this project, things you just don't think of. Like, breaking the gathering. I wanted to slit my wrists with my seam ripper folks. Thankfully, Mr. Apple Pie Vodka was there for me to numb my pain. Things that should have been easy, weren't. Poor ~KiusLady 's machine hated the plain linen fabric we were using when gathering, and it just chewed the fabric. Not badly, but it caused her great pains.

We are both blessed with boyfriends though who are understanding, and able to entertain each other. While we were in sewing hell, they kept the mental health unit on speed-dial and played board games.

Sewing cookies were had, and we all tried ~KiusLady 's hot cocoa with orange tea idea, which turned out to be delicious and a great boost to the motivation! There was a small dinner break for pizza and wings as well, which was definitely a life saver.

The photos you see are a combined effort between myself, ~KiusLady , and her boyfriend ~snesmaster . My boyfriend is a bit technically challenged, so he chose not to try to operate the camera. He was the one with MHU on speed-dial, an equally important function for this project.

Overall, it was hell on earth for about 23hrs. Completing the skirts was a huge relief, and spinning in the skirts was somewhat of a bad idea. They just keep going... and try to take you with them! But they're a lot of fun, so we don't regret a minute of it. So we killed a few braincells of sanity... didn't need those anyways. >_>;

Now we just have to figure out what crazy project we're doing next year, because we figure this can be an annual thing! I hope my boyfriend still has MHU on speed-dial...

This is based off the pattern for a 10yd skirt found here: [link]

it may have been an insane and arduous process however, the result is very very well done and worth it.

Thanks, we felt as much too. Though we don't think we're going to make any more 36yd skirts anytime soon. I'm sure we'll find something equally as crazy to do though. LOL

Thank you for putting this together!! (Now I don't have to!)
This *was* an uber fun project! Definitely drawstrings will need to be made at some point; and I have discovered there's no easy way to store a 36 yard skirt; but they're incredibly pretty and fun to wear (yes, spinning in them truly is a frightening experience the first time you try it!)

Fortunately we have a year to plan the next level of insanity. I'm leaning towards fully beaded cabaret costumes. J/K!!!

Haha, you should still make one! You know, if you're feeling up to it. We will definitely eventually make draw strings. I just... can't be bothered right now. xD; We have until February anyways! It's all good... >_>;

LOL! And whatever it might be, it certainly will require vodka. Especially a fully beaded costume! (yeahokayno)

You're welcome. With enough money (it's a lot of fabric), time, and patience you can definitely have one too. C:
