they need to do a major overhaul on the wondertrade system, half of all the pokemon i get are fletchlings and bunnelbys, the other half are froakies

Except 1) this wasn't over Wonder Trade 2) that Fletchling has its Hidden Ability Gale Wings and 4 perfect IVs and 3) Froakie aren't that bad :/c
I got some treasures over Wonder Trade, like dat Japanese Noibat I used to get my Shiny =w=›
I personally like the GTS better, at least when I deposit anyway.
Man, my trades are STEALS XD

The Shiny Noibat took 222, which is apparently kinda lucky. That'd be a first.
I got a lot of perfect Noibat because of this @_@

I remember a time when none of that mattered and it was all up to chance and type match-ups to who won. Now we are losing sight of what pokemon means. It was originally all about catching them all and beating the elite 4 with your first pokemon, now its all about who will win the pokemon competitions and who has the best stats. WTF happened.

*falls off chair*
damn dude, that hit hard, considering my main team in game wasn't anything special to most people, but their levels were so high that we wiped the floor with the Elite Four. The whole of our journey we were taking our time.
I mean, I don't know anyone from me that used a Furfrou. Caleb my baby…
The Froakie someone gave me wasn't very strong but even so as a Greninja she held her own. All of them grew stronger together and we… well we won.
I can only image how infinitely impossible it would be to get anywhere in the Battle Frontier/Subway/Maison without the hard work I put into my partner Pokémon, teaching them strong moves and bestowing them high stats.
The amount of time I put into breeding and strategizing and isolating egg moves is unfathomable. And even so all the eggs produced after all that I still feel connected to. I can't bring myself to release them.
Then you test your strengths against others and see what you can do to get better.
Heh, people were blown away that my Chandelure was so bulky in a multi battle, even though that's not how she was raised. It was amazing!
The spirit of competition plays a huge role in Pokémon. To say that IVs and competitions are the path Pokemon strayed to is to say that Pokemon wasn't about Pokemon ever.
And to be probably brutally honest, Pokemon was about collecting in the very beginning. Nowadays people sneer at those trying to complete the Pokedex, which I had helped do in my sister's Yellow, had done for the Regional Hoenn Dex, and the National Dex in Black 2. Yup, people thought lowly of me. Whatever. I didn't what I wanted to do. It's none of their business.

To each their own, when i was just a wee young lad, i got a pokemon red for my 7th bday............or was it my 6th? anyway, i started it up, and my first pokemon was a female charmander (really rare), i knew that it was meant to be, and i named her Pyroar (not knowing in a decade that they would come out with a pokemon of the same name) I traversed the entirety of Kanto with her, never thinking she was anything but a friend inside a cartridge. she was my second best friend in the entire world. Now fast forward to a few months ago, i got x and y, and when i got to the professer, i chose charmander, pyroar had come back to me. i knew that she would not be stuck in my original red for long, and she found a way back to me. i finally was able to show how much i appreciated her for what she gave me as a child. She shall always and forever be my companion in the digital world.
but im sure im boring you, keep on trying to catch them all. its the experience that you have with pokemon that counts, not what other people say.

Pokemon Red didn't have genders. (was also my first Pokemon game)
I actually can sympathize with you, but twice.
My Silver version, out of Gold and Crystal, I played the heck out of it. My sister years back had restarted her Yellow and needed help with a gym, so I lent her my Nidoking.
Years past of being separated from her, and my Silver deleted itself. the internal battery had died.
But my Nidoking lived on. Eventually I got to keep my sisters games and the batteries changed in them before the save data could erase.
But before getting her Yellow and Blue, I got HeartGold as homage to my lost Silver (no pun intended) and got a Nidoking all over again. I taught him Surf like my old one, and named him Odin.
Next story, I got Black and had tucked my Zoroark in into the Dream World. I loved that Zoroark and every Pokemon in that game, but it came a time where I was caught having the game when I was forbidden to have video games.
My fathers psycho girlfriend smashed my DS lite, with Black inside, with a sledgehammer.
I asked Pokemon/Nintendo support if I could still somehow get Zoroark back. they said no.
Lost forever, my pal Zoroark.
