The colouring, shading + point of focus is all well placed ..

And improving?..... I know this may sound like a step backwards.. But this site covers so much theories ::: [link]

I love her pretty looking green eyes, and nice work on the detail to the background too. The hair detailing looks really nice too.

Since you have advanced critique encouraged, I'll ask a question before actually critiquing: what is her pose? Are we looking down on her, or straight on?

yea.. from a slight angle above but not directly over-head.. something's wrong eh? please tell me I suck at perspective

The picture is very pretty, and a good start, so let's get to the critique:

I'm not sure at the character's age, but right now, she looks six years old. To combat this, wrists and ankles can be slimmed down. For some reason, chunky wrists and ankles translate into making a character look younger, especially in combination with a large head and huge eyes.

Definitly work on perspective - but I suck at it too, so I can't really give much advice. You draw it too much as if we were looking straight at her, instead of down at her, if that helps any.

I suggest finding anatomical refrences for: hands, feet, legs, hips, shoulders, breast/chests, as a starting point. Get a friend to take on the girl's pose, and then snap a photo from the correct angle. Digitally, place a layer over the human, and draw in a 'skeleton', to help illustrate where the limbs are inr elation to eachother, then compare it to your rendition of the pose.

Try filling pages with just drawing a specific body part. Use photo refrences. I suggest finding photos of a female body builder with an obvious muscle tone but still with her feminenity, to help you practice. If you SEE where the muscles ARE, even if you don't actually draw them, they help you shape and form the limbs as well as to shade them. You can do the same with male bodybuilders to draw your male characters.

I'm not positive, but I believe that in the pose you've drawn her in, if we're looking DOWN at her, she'd be falling over backwards, or laying on her back. I believe we wouldn't honestly be able to see her hips area.
