So if you've never heard of it, a devamp is where you essentially take a more recent concept and remake it in an older style. The term usually applies to sprites in particular. So, for example, someone making Gen V Pokemon in the style of Gen I or II sprites would mean they are devamping them.

I've made a current Gen sprite of my Author Avatar "SakuMo," so I thought it was time to make a devamp version! So that's what we have here. I grabbed every GameBoy Color-era Pokemon sprite I could get my mits on and started recoloring! 8D

It may seem like it's not a difficult task (and really, it's not too terribly hard), but Gen I-II sprites are remarkably difficult in their simplicity...you have to be careful in making sure you don't use too many colors (from my studying of GSC sprites, it seems there are 4 colors allowed on Trainers: black, white, a "main" color, and the skintone), and the lack of shading colors was killer for me. Especially since SakuMo has a stripe design on her shirt sleeves.

The trainer took the most tinkering, as trying to figure out how to convey the stripes was a pain (it still looks bad, imo), and just tinkering things around to look right was a headache. Hair was another nightmare, at times. OTL

All in all, though, I really like it. Is it professional grade, heck no, but then, my sprites never are, lol. I did this mostly for funsies, and I'm happy with the result. Devamps are fun, but I don't think I'm good enough to do them often. Maybe, if I'm feeling brave, I'll make a Yellow Version of SakuMo, which uses an even more restricted color pallet. OTL
