Description Hey everyone! So I finally finished my first real illustration project for school! As tedious as it was, it was a lot of fun, and I thought I'd share it with everyone! >v<

For my project, we had to pick a classic book from a list and redesign the book cover. The ones I had in mind were Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, and Les Miserables. (But I really wanted to do AiW!)

So, 25 thumb sketches, 4 refined sketches, 4 more refined sketches, 1 final sketch, 6 value studies, 1 final value study, 5 color studies, 2 refined color studies, and 12 hours later... I finally ended up with this as the final product!

I'm actually pretty happy with this piece too. ovo I got way too excited when I made a print today to present in class tomorrow XD The whole process was painful and nerve-wrecking, but enjoyable.

On that note, I think I just might offer this as a print! Would you like to see this be sold as a print online and at conventions? I want everyone to tell me what you think about that!

Very cool!

I kind of agree with what others said about the movement and speed of her falling, but at the same time I also disagree considering when she goes down the rabbit hole it's like time and space become distorted and the laws of physics don't quite apply like they're supposed to, so the look this has kind of works, too!

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it ;v; And I agree with you too. I could have made the falling a little more effective, but then the distortion of time, I think, fits the whole Wonderland feel very well.

Thank you so much! QvQ It was definitely a lot of work. There was more I could do to make it better, but I'll have to do that later. I was seriously surprised as to just how much work actually went into just a book cover, lol.

But now we're working on movie posters! 8'D It's going to take the same amount of work, but... I'm really excited! As taxing and stressful as my class is, I really am having a lot of fun, and that's what's important.

I really love her expression and how she's reaching out for the white rabbit, this was such a nice idea! Was there a specific reason why you changed her color palette, or did you just think it looked cute this way?

I actually used this palette because the one I found reminded me of ice cream! XD But in the process of making the color studies, I tried a few different palettes, including the Disney color palette for Alice. My illustration teacher and I talked it over and decided that using a non-traditional color palette (aka the one that was used in the end) was more interesting/different and fun! And I actually liked it a lot more than the traditional Alice colors (but that's probably just because I'm a sucker for soft pinks XD).

But thank you! I'm happy to hear you like it! ;v;

I think the hair needs a bit of adjusting with the wind speed of falling. Maybe alter the color of either the girl's dress or the background tiles so they can be distinguished too. .-.
