Mindy Gledhill - All About Your HeartJust thought I'd post this for Valentine's Day. ;v; I think this is my first time actually drawing something for this holiday, haha. |D Anyways, here's some Kaela~ I swear her hair gets longer each time I draw her...
Buuut, I really love how this came out, so, whatever. ;v;
The heart has a missing piece because it's meant to be filled up by her... maybe |D

Definitely! Stare at it for too long and you become blind to the mistakes. I used to do that ALL the time. I'd be so proud of something and then look at it again a week later and be like, "Eeeesh. How did I NOT notice THAT?!" XD

The shading work done on her clothes are done great, and her eyes are very charming
Im not usually too big on hair that shows strands but I think it works great here ahah

Lol! That's a very different (but really cool) take on that! I never would have considered it would mean that she could be a heart-breaker, lol. That makes me want to try to play with that in future art! Thank you so much!

This is really wonderful. And I love the message "it's not about your scars, it's about your heart". I have something similar I'll be posting soon but it's a bit on the dark side haha
the colors are so warm, perfect for Valentine's. Makes me wish I'd drawn something for it too!
As for a critique, some advice that has always helped me is: Don't be afraid of shadowing and darkness.
And your anatomy is pretty good. I'm looking at the hands and I'm thinking maybe making the knuckle to the ring fingers visible would be good. It's kind of rare for only the knuckle to the pinky to show when the hands are in this position. (Because the ring finger is longer and the knuckle is "up higher" than the pinky and it's knuckle in general)
Hope that's a good critique for you.

Thank you so much! I really do appreciate the critique! I'll admit, I had to find a reference for the hands because I couldn't get the position right, but then, I couldn't find the position I was looking for... So I had to find second best ;v; The real life reference picture I found didn't have the other knuckles really showing because of the position it was in.Β But I'll try to look around more and see if I can't find better references for next time. I'll keep the shadowing in mind too.

Oh I know exactly what you mean. Finding references is just the hardest thing x.x I've been told looking in the mirror and down at our own hands and drawing them is best because it's three dimensional and not flat. But its always nice having a ref that won't change position lol

Yeah? That's probably a good idea, but my problem is that I don't have any small mirrors either, even to set onto a desk ovo;;; So I have no choice but to look for refs online. That, and picture refs don't change position, like you said |D But maybe I should look into investing in a small desk mirror, now that I finally got a good-sized desk for my computer ;v; Maybe I can use my phone or a camera to take pics of those positions in the mirror and then just upload it onto the computer.
