B-day present for my dear friend
original photo from one book about wolves (i guess czech name will tell u nothing
)size: smaller A5
used: pencil H, 2B + graphic paper (light gold with tiny gold glliters)
time: about 2 hours

edit: i didnt assumed that big popularity of this picture, thank u! i even get my first critique ever! and as was the wish here is link to small (the only one ive founded on web) picture [link] I was drawing along book not some downloaded picture, so i dont have bigger version (and that book is not mine). english name of the book is "Wolves at our Door".

This is a very lovely drawing; however I can't really give a proper critique on it since you didn't put up a picture of the reference photo.
Anyway, I like the way you drew the hand, although it's hard to tell if it's a child's, adult's or teenager's hand because obviously depending on how old the person is will depend on how big the hand is compared to the dog's paw. I'm guessing the person is almost a teenager and therefore the size of the hand to the paw is about right. That's it about the hand.
I would critique on the dog's paw, but I'm not sure that I can since there's no reference picture to look at and compare.
One last thing, I don't know if it's the monitor I'm using at the moment or not, but this picture looks very light and would look slightly better if it were very slightly darker but in a way it's not too dark. However I am guessing it's the monitor I'm using at the moment because I haven't managed to get that light a shadow with a 2B pencil before.

as u wished (and probably others too) ive added to artist comment link to reference picture (sorry for that small version) and name of the book.
human hand wasnt in my focus in this picture - i like wolves, that friend too - so i wanted to leave it just "human" (not woman, man, child or something).
yeah, i know its a bit light but its because i did it on light paper with small glitters and when i played with curves on the scan it looked absolutely different than original.
second thing why there is not black is: that friend likes more sketchy style of drawing (not absolutely realistic) where he can see how it was drawn.
btw, that light tones were done with H, 2B i used just for shadows and claws.

I figured that you used H for lighter shadows and 2B for the really dark shadows, but like I said it was rather light. Yeah, scanners can usually change the lightness and other aspects of a picture by A LOT so I understand.

It's probably Jamie Dutcher's picture in that book. You should check out her documentary about living with wolves.
