The original was a big inspiration to me in high school.
Why did you revisit it? It was perfect the way it is, and now it feels more anime. A lot more sharper edges.

I'm glad it was a big inspiration to you! And it hasn't gone anywhere, it is still in my old pictures folder. I disagree that it was perfect the way it was, but it was certainly the best I could do at the time. This piece is from kind of an awkward era while I was transitioning between "photo-realism is the best, everyone says so" and "actually I want a distinct style of my own. I was very proud of the piece and there was and still is a lot of stuff I really liked about it, which is why I chose to revisit it for my portfolio. I like that it feels more cartoonish, I love sharp edges and less photo-y/photoshop-y feeling and that is largely the point. I want my current portfolio to reflect my interests and style. Including things in it that are not representative of my current identity or artistic goals isn't ideal for getting work doing what I want to do. I really liked this piece, and revisiting it lets me keep it.
This is the version that has been sitting in my portfolio since this year's update and I thought it would be fun to share it with my watchers to show how I've changed and where I am using a familiar few pieces. This isn't about over-writing my past, this is submitted as it's own deviation and no one's taken the one you prefer away from you.
