I've looked everywhere, but I don't know what kind of bird he is. I saw him at Shark Valley Everglades National Park.I know now.....
Green Heron (Butorides virescens).

love the colours - don't know what the bird is though, perhaps its something rare if you couldn't identify it.... in which case, congratulations on getting the shot!

i noticed you use a d40, same as me, do you like it?
and im guessing from the focal length and f/number that you're using the nikkor 55-200mm VR?
im thinking about getting that lens to take exactly this sort of shot

Thanks, I am using the 55-200mm VR (it came with the camera and an 18-55mm lens) I love it....just have a lot to learn!

i only just got my d40 (about a month ago) and i considered getting the 2 lens kit, but didnt in the end 👍: 0 ⏩: 1
i'm learning as fast as i can at the moment, weather permitting (i'm in scotland...)
the d40 is such a great camera for a beginner like me, i feel like i've learnt so much already
if only there were pretty places like that around here for me to practice with!

actually, there are some beautiful places
problem is, most of them are 4 or 5 hour drive over to the highlands, where it rains all the time, is very very cold and windy and there are lots and lots of irritating biting insects!
i think i should wait until summer then try and get up there
for now i'll have to settle for photographing st andrews!

so many people in britain dont seem to know where it is, and yet so many americans visit here!
