I got rats again! I was fortunate enough to find a siamese rat. I've wanted one for the longest time. I named her Clara and her litter mate's name is Toot. She's a bit timid at times, but quite cooperative for pictures. I imagine I'll use her in a lot of photos.Edit: Clara passed away on May 15th. She went to sleep and never woke up.

Really? They're neat because they are colored just like a siamese cat is (dark head, light colored body, and dark colored bottom), hence their name. I just love them!

Nope, I never buy rats from pet stores. They're always incredibly sick. No, I've been looking for rats for a while and found Clara and her litter mate in a give-away ad on craigslist. I had to drive about 4 hours to get them but it was worth it.

Yes, i got mice from pet stores, different ones too... 3 out of four of them died within a month for no fault of my own. one actually had mental disabilities... she ran in circles pretty much all day
And wow! four hours.... but I guess i should look there

Aww, that's unfortunate. Many years ago we had a mouse that had babies. I think she had like, 11 or 17 of them. Well one was the runt and we kept her after sending the mom and the rest of the babies back to the pet store. She was slightly deformed, I assume she had the mouse equivalent of scoliosis. She literally had a back bone that curved at about 140 degree angle. She walked funny and would walk in circles too. If I remember right she was also blind and deaf. She lived to be about 3 years old. But there will never be another mouse that showed the amount of affection she gave us. She was the epitome of sweet. It's always the funny looking ones that are the sweetest and nicest

Yes, the one of mine that lived the longest(Ginger) had a bestfriend (Anise).... when Ginger died of old age, Anise refused to get up.. i would poke her gently and she would hardly look. she stopped eating and drinking and killed herself
