Wow! Is the engine a three foot gauge locomotive? It looks like a DSP&P 2-6-0. You can run her on the KNGRR if you like.

Yes, it certainly is a 3ft mogul. LGB patterned the 2018/2028 moguls off of a prototype Cooke mogul built for the DSP&P railroad in 1881 or so.

I am quite fond of both the railway, the moguls, and the lone surviving original DSP&P locomotive, 2-8-0 #51/191.

I have a battery powered large scale model of a DSP&P mogul, it is very similar to this but has a red cab with gold lettering.
I really like the weathering you've done on this model, she looks rough and rugged on the outside.

Battery powered... Is it a conversion from LGB or something cheaper?

And thanks.

It's a cheap China made plastic version. It no longer works.
Would you be interested in having Rio Moya & Northern No. 18 become a visiting engine on the Kunkletown Narrow Gauge Railroad?
It's such a handsome locomotive.

And where is this railroad?

SteamRailwayCompany In reply to Sampug394 [2012-09-05 00:45:57 +0000 UTC]

It is a three foot gauge railroad that runs from Lehigh Gap in Northeastern Pennsylvania to Port Jervis in New York. The is also a branch line running from Bushkill PA to Newton New Jersey.

Yep, that's a Mogul 2-6-0 worth talking about!

Finally, the mysterious locomotive...who happens to be your best looking loco! She is just simply beautiful! You need to put some artwork on that lamp, as well as trim out the tender tank with lots of striping.

I love this one, you should be proud to have her in your fleet.

Sampug394 In reply to Eddie-Sand [2012-05-22 02:40:14 +0000 UTC]

Seeing as I just got her back to operating status with new gears in the chassis, I shall reply:

Thank you. XD

The headlamp and tender both sported LGB's typical hoo-ha with American locomotive stereotyped appearances, plus the weathering on the tender turned out fucking amazing for drybrushing anyway.

I feel obligated to leave her unlettered, but simply numbered. XD

VERY nice!

Heh, if I ever make it back to Colorado (been there once), maybe I could stop by for a visit to see it in action in person? If not, that's OK too.

Best of luck to you on the rest of your layout's development!

Hahaha and thanks! It's had a lot of luck as of late, mostly through investments XD

Investing is generally a good thing... provided the return is to one's satisfaction.

But who said the "return" had to be monetary? When it comes to model trains, the emotional return is worth oh SO much more, is it not? Hehehe...

Perfect timing, as I have gutted the locomotive because one of the two drive gears failed and the other is getting quite worn.

It's currently free rolling with nothing in the chassis.
