The Brochus line of military transports originated during the First Solar War as a means of delivering battalion-strength forces to the ground as quickly as possible. The larger Juggernaut-classification vessels were capable of managing small armies from orbit and utilized dropships for massive infantry and vehicular assaults. The weakness of the Juggernauts was that they were vulnerable to anti-orbit guns and could potentially be forced out of orbit by enemy fleet actions, their size making them priority targets. Corvettes were of course extremely fast but lacking in both firepower and carrying capacity. The Brochus filled the niche of a large vessel that could enter atmospheres and attack defense installations directly. Often used in groups of 7-14 for regimental or legionary deployments, the Brochi became somewhat more common than most UEG ships. Generally speaking, they are the first larger vessels to attack a planet or installation in a major conflict even while the battle rages in the skies above. The biggest weakness inherent to this model of Assault Transport is its lack of firepower in ship-to-ship engagements. This is typically remedied by allocating a frigate or a pair of gunboats for escort duty when not part of a larger formation.

In later years, as technology advanced, Brochi became useful as fully interstellar transports for rapid-response deployments and were seen as more or less permanent homes to the units they transported, the accommodations being downright luxurious when compared to the other transport classes. The larger interior sections can be configured to the specifications of the captain, medical or recreational facilities are most common but minor refinement and processing units may be installed to allow for longer deployments away from supply chains.
