It's fun playing around with different textures and colours....building different scenes, because you never know what you will get in the end.

are they finger prints? I really like the blue tones!

Hmm, I'm not sure what you refer to by finger prints, but I'm pretty sure that the answer is stencils that I made. Thank you for your comment!

So what if now, you took a leap and covered this entire surface with a warmer yellow gel type material to "destroy" the safety of your intent.
It's a scary proposition but again, I am taking my own medicine here lately... that attack or destruction expressed on the surface can break something open in our minds... knowing you can survive the obliteration of that controlled process and learn to use chaos as just another brush...
Not saying you are doing this, but when I stopped trying to make work that would sell in galleries or be understood by fans of my illustration, that is when I connected with those strange vistas that I think the Symbolists hinted at.

Yellow, eek.. I could see that going very wrong due to my hatred towards that colors... but, I understand what you are saying.
There is also that unknown moment where you have to step away from your own work, so as far as this piece goes, it is complete.
I'm afraid we are on the same medicine, I have other paintings with similar style that I'm working on at the moment, that are in that phase of destruction... covering up, changing, distorting even the areas that I like in order to get deeper or to just discover something new.
There is something unbearable in making work for someone else... that is why I quit working as a graphic designer, and am trying to stay away from that aspect when it comes to art. I'm very fortunate to have buyers that just want to see my work, the way I want to create it.

Definitely moving in a solid direction. The upper left seems like the work of you previous hand but the white and blue on the right is also very successful with the warmer lower areas.
As a task maybe challenge yourself to not use circles or ovals. For me my challenge was to make paintings that had no discernible direction to hang. Another example of letting go of habits and letting the work just come together.
We still pay attention to the elements of design but it is our mental approach that we are really ammending.

Thank you.
I have challenged myself before to use straight lines only.. But even in this piece there is an inner struggle that I'm trying to overcome, since those circles and ovals are so imperfect.. I really have to hold myself back from going back and fixing every line.

where the dark shapes function as silhouettes against that super rich and layered (depthy) softer pastel, I think is a successful area. For me the pink to yellow green to blue area with the white structures toward the top is the most active and expressive section.

I really love the texture effects in this; I think it was highly successful. It can indeed be difficult to relinquish control, but sometimes it's so worth it.

It's quite hard for me to create those textures because it's so time consuming and it was hard for me let the painting just sit and dry... but it really was worth it. Thank you =]
