Description This piece is one of the winners from the contest that was held by [link]
The little pyromaniac in me always loved fire, I even escaped my 3 year old birthday party to go and watch the fire all by myself. With all the destruction that fire can bring, I always saw it as a sign of positivity, the sight of it calms me down and the warmth is what I always crave for.

In my painting, the big dark spirals go outside the painting into the void, but the white cradles the uncontrollable flame.

Acrylic on 16x20" / 40x50 cm canvas.
The textures were built with modeling paste and different gels.

How did you get the bits of text on there?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

San-T In reply to GeorgieDeeArt [2013-03-05 04:33:25 +0000 UTC]

Scotch tape transfer... You basically put the transparent tape on preferably a magazine page, cut it out, put it in hot water for few min and peel the paper off of it. You end up with the pigment of the printer attached to the glue of the tape. You can either attach it the way it is onto the surface, but it's better if you put a thin layer of gel medium on the surface, place the tape down with the sticky part facing down and rub it a little so there won't be air bubbles in between... let it dry for about a day and peel the tape off, the text should then be imprinted in the dry gel.

uh, I hope I didn't confuse you o.o
