Description the colours turned out a little weird but i think i finally nailed my katniss design.
So let's take a moment to appreciate the real book-Katniss, who is a woman of colour. What an amazing character.
I am still fuming over the fact that hollywood whitewashed Katniss and i will never get over it. I love Jennifer Lawrence and she plays the role so very well but to quote Viola Davis- "the only thing seperating a woman of colour from everyone else is oppurtunity". I am certain that if the creators had at least let women of colour audition for the role they would find a perfect Katniss, who would carry out the role just as great, and would fit the fantastic franchise, story, special effects, music and be even more relatable because she would be a minority and she would stand for those who need to fight for their lives everyday. Imagine movies with Katniss and Gale with their right ethnicity, and what that would mean for today.
I also don't even think it's logical to star that many white actors in a story that takes place in the future. According to scientists, the avarage american will be coloured in the not too distant future.
Here's to Katniss, and to everything The Hunger Games stands for.

Amazing! I love the shading on her face and how you've subtly highlighted the bone structure!

I will forever be mad about the movies casting and to be honest, the lack of any real violence. Why in the world did they rate it a pg 13??? did these people not read the same story as I did?
Love how you've pictured here here

ohmygod i know! oh and i agree with you about the lack of violence! it's literally a story about war. when i first read the series, it was terrifying. the books have this mysterious, eerie, haunting, paranoid feel to them as they tackle such disturbing subjects, such as the hunger games; sending kids out to fight to the death, televising it all and making a nation watch the government force children to become monsters.
for me, the last one was sorely missing out on both violence and blood. there is a scene in the book where katniss walks between piles of bodies, and another when she sees the capitol girl in the yellow dress lie dead.
and while we're at it, where the hell was peeta's torture scenes? i was under the impression that they'd filmed those scenes with josh???
tbh the last harry potter scene was darker than the thg movies and that was a series about a magic school.

sorry for ranting. thanks so much for the comment, i'm glad you like the drawing!!

yes! definitely where were peeta's hijacking scenes?? the promo's always made the films seem better then they actually were. I guess you can say that about all movies though lol
I've pretty much given up on book to movie adaptations because all they do is cheapen it and turn it into another 'white hero saves the day' piece of hollywood crap that we've seen repeated over and over again.
'sigh' i'm tired of them ruining my books
I mean for gods sake, there was one scene in mockingjay that always stuck in my head as being particularly horrible, just after finnicks death when a pod literally boils a bunch of soilders alive and katniss describes how their bodies melted and burst and like, how can you downplay the seriousness of this violence and take away the entire point of the series? I get so mad about it, and the damn casting, don't even get me started hahha

I'd draw and animate the whole damn thing if I had the skill, just to give it the justice it deserves.

Don't be sorry, I so rarely get to express my distaste for thg movies its nice to see someone as passionate about it as me

Awesome!
(What was their ethnicity in the books? I kind of thought Native American)

thank you!
they never specify (the book says she has olive skin though), but i think that was a part of it. like, it totally makes sense that in the future there will be such a mix of ethnicities that a person doesn't have just one or two ethnicities. so if katniss' family has generations of family behind them, i don't think they would know what ethnicities they are, because district 12 is such a poor district and wouldn't have the technology. and this is just assuming that panem is the future north america that we have today (do they ever say that it once was north america?)
but i headcanon her as looking native american, too! it fits my picture of her.

This is awesome!
The colour choice is really amazing and fits everything about the character and setting in relation to the story itself (or so that's what I think) haha.
It's really nice ^-^
