Description "Don't Qunari ever show affection?"
"No."
"Never?"
"I call you kadan. Do you not understand the word?"
"I get it. I just meant physical affection, like...I dunno, a hug or something."
He made a sound somewhere between a grunt and a derisive snort. "Physical affection. You mean that I should rub your ears, the way I see so many Fereldans do with their dogs?"
"Well, sure, why not! It'd be something, at least!"
She really shouldn't have been so surprised when her sarcastic answer was taken seriously, given who she was talking to.

The fangirlspawn want a romance mod, so I tried to consider how that might work. Forget trying to convince him of the "love = reproduction" mindset everyone else seems to have; you'd probably have to teach him about the concept of showing affection, period. I don't get the feeling that Qunari are very affectionate people. They're too snarky and stoic for all that mushy stuff.

This of course reminded me of my own awkward attempts at showing affection (I'm not usually a touchy person, either), which usually end up with me telling myself to treat them like a dog. Dogs are easy to deal with; people are not. And since Fereldan loves dogs so much, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they roll on their backs like their Mabari when you pat their heads.

I love his face at the bottom. He went out of his way to be nice to her, and she just fell over. Humans are such maddening creatures, but he's still not sure if this should be filed under "cute things the Warden does" or "more proof Fereldan needs to be conquered immediately", so he's just gonna frown about it until he decides one way or the other!

Oh, and for the record, yes, having a friend rub your ears does feel stupidly good.

I like Sten because he is as alien to Human society as I mostly feel - and yes, animals are easier to deal with than people >_<

I must admit, I am curious as to how Bioware will handle a Qunari developing interest in a party member; because in Qunari society they practice selective breeding.

"The Qunari do not have family units. They do not marry or even choose their own partners. A father's involvement ends at conception. A mothers ends at birth. A Qunari's 'family' is his or her peers called brothers and sisters.

The Tamassrans arrange and approves conception. They are also charged with raising children from birth."

This is what The Book of Thedas says anyway.

I'm suspecting that they're not gonna deal with it at all. There's at least one bit of concept art that names your kossith Inquisition companion Iron Bull , and aside from that not sounding like a Qunari title, there's a rumor going around that he's Tal-Vashoth and is more like a giant Oghren (but then, there's also rumors that this rumor was false, so who knows). The Inquisitor is specifically confirmed as Tal-Vashoth because of things like this (although it might be interesting to have a "Qunari-ness" meter that tells how well you're keeping to their traditions and whether or not you can go back after finishing the game, but that would only add content for one of four playable races). If you never run across a practicing Qunari, or only deal with them in war and diplomacy, then they never have to touch the thorny issue of what they'd do when confronted with romantic feelings (I would suspect meditation, loooooots of meditation; failing that, lots of medication).

I'm pretty sure that if you pick the Qunari race in Inquisition it was said that you were one born outside the Qun and never having known it, that's what I remember seeing regarding it on the Dragon Age Wiki....either than or one of the interviews I saw confirming the playable races, I really don't remember which. But yeah, the player is a Tal-Vashoth if they pick playing as a Qunari.
