I love Ruprecht's expression, as if he's saying "I'm sorry kid, maybe you should've been nicer."
I have never actually heard of this version of Santa Claus's darker half. This work seems to sum him up nicely. He can come knocking anytime if I ever have kids.

But wait, I thought the various forms of Dark-Santa only punished naughty children, not set their eyes on them like...prey.
What's going on here!? Also, great artwork! It creeps me the Hell out!

Is that Saint Nicholas?

No, not St. Nicholas. It's more based on Krampus (though a couple different cultures give him a different name).
Essentially, in many countries like the USA, it's simply said that Santa brings coal to bad children (because coal would still keep them warm in the winter but wasn't as special as a toy. It was still a gift, just a practical one instead of the exciting one children wanted). This is because the tradition of Santa Clause (Latin for "Saint" and short for "Nicholas") is based on the Catholic holiday of St. Nicholas's Day, Dec 6th (a holiday memorializing Nicholas of Myra. The tradition of giving gifts comes from how Nicholas saved three girls from being sold into slavery by sneaking through the night with a sack of gold on his shoulder and throwing the gift through their family's window so that they could find it in the morning). In this tradition, it focuses on giving gifts while being thoughtful of others--even if it is a practical one. Overtime, somehow the two holidays (Christmas and St. Nicholas's day) were merged, likely because both contain feasts are only about 2 weeks or so apart.
However, in other countries from mostly Germanic and Slovic backgrounds, instead of Santa bringing coal to naughty children, they have a demon-like character that kidnaps and punishes children who've been naughty by stuffing them inside his bag and ghosting them away for an entire year of torment. This is actually based on folklore from ancient pagan religions that are no longer observed. Like Greek Mythology, these ancient tales still find their way into modern literature and fantasy. In places like Austria, Germany, etc, they've mix the two different traditions (Santa Clause and Krampus) into a single day. According to their modern traditions, Santa Clause brings apples and good gifts to good children, and the evil Krampus comes and kidnaps the bad.

I get a little excited to write about them.

<3 this! I like this image of Ruprecht/Krampus. Not like a horror monster from a movie, but
a person you can talk to(and try to beg for forgiveness for sins past). Hopefully he listens to
the pleadings of little girls as well as little boys.

he switched his eyes more onto girls and young women."
sounds like he hasn't got any tail since his first years as a nightmare.

well, since this Knecht creature spends his day punishing children, I think it's saying that he never got laid.
