Description How I color hair, featuring Centuris Prime who belongs to *dubird

Hope this is helpful! Even though it's messy!!

I use Prismacolor colored pencils so when I talk about colors, that's the brand :3

I use Sakura Micron pens to ink (.02 and .05) and Strathmore drawing paper, it's the 300 series (yellow cover).

I use it mostly for brown and golden hue hairs but you can use it to smooth out a lot of things

Will a prismacolor colorless blender work with other pencils?
I'm too poor to get Prismacolors.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SarahForde In reply to pinkbubblesnake [2010-04-04 23:47:46 +0000 UTC]

you know, I'm not sure It might but it's kind of consistent with the waxy texture they have. To blend other kinds of pencils sometimes you can just get these things called stumps: [link] They are like really tightly rolled paper and that's what I used to use before I got Prismas

Have you ever used a marker colourless blender? I use this instead of the pencil colourless blender and I was wondering if there was much of a difference.
Is there any chance you could do a skin colour tutorial? I loved this one.

SarahForde In reply to karshepottsoner18722 [2009-11-27 00:34:02 +0000 UTC]

I have never used a marker colorless blender. I only have about 11 Prismacolor markers that I toy around with once in a while, but no blenders. My guess is that they do the same thing, but I bet the marker ones get gunky fast.

[link] is a coloring tutorial I did that has some skin colors in it, I'm not sure if that will help

Lol I noticed that tutorial after I commented. Thanks

With my marker what I do is wipe it on a scrap piece of paper to get rid of the colour left over on it. It's kind of annoying.

I recently did a piece using markers for the skin. I usually use a really light coloured peach Laurentien pencil crayon, so it was really a huge difference. I'm starting to warm up to it though.

Most stores that sell prismacolors will also sell the blenders. you can also buy them online. I get mine from utrechtart.com

Prismacolors. My favorets And I'm spoiled too cause my big bro gave me his 120 box and I already had the 60 box. Plus my verithins and the crayons

Oh yah... and they work great over watercolor base too btw.

SarahForde In reply to jedi-gert [2009-03-13 16:48:25 +0000 UTC]

Wow thats killer. People give me them randomly too, it's good being known as 'the artist' lol

Thanks for the tip about the watercolor base. I haven't tried too much with watercolors

I'm a big fan of mixed media so I've been working it little by little into my traditional art to see what effects I can get. About the only thing I can't work with is pastels because I'm alergic to the talc or something in them.

And yah, it's great being known as the 'artest' isn't it? Every time someone gets bored with their supplies they get donated to me. That's how I got all my ceramic glazes actually.

I think my half of the basement is ahome for orphaned art supplys sometimes

Or as I call them, my treasures

i have boxes of stuff in my basement from my studio when I moved out. I poke through it once in a while and go, "WOW I have this?!" haha

LOL! Oh good, I thught I was the only one that did that... Though with me it's embroidery supplies on that one.

Pappy makes a little bit of fun of me because he never has to wonder where something is to borrow it. Not only do my supplies have homes... the shelves and drawers are labeled too...

I'm sure there's something that can be said about my mental health regarding that

There ARE messy places in my house.. but my studio isn't the primary victim. It was at my mom's cause I never had time to do much art cause she always had some household project to complete by some arbitray date to be replaced by the next project and date.. Lol.

Left to my own devices I'm sort of a compulsive organizer.

LOL! So is Pappy, it's the one thing we actually argue about. He THINKS he's organized but like things are not all in one place which means he is not

Ah well, we all have vices. Mine is coffee.
