About the Image:

This is LOOOOOOONG overdue but I finally got around to fixing up a marking tutorial for everyone that has asked. These are not the EXACT steps I take EVERY time but it is close enough that you get the idea...I hope.

As always I am MORE then happy to answer questions if something is not clear and I strongly encourage everyone who is having difficulty not to ever hesitate to ask for help! I'm always willing to redline and even walk people through things (if my time allows). ^.^

This work is not being published for critique purposes but rather is simply part of my portfolio. I do enjoy and value everyone's critique I simply ask that you msg me personally with your thoughts rather then clutter my portfolio with unneeded banter on what could be improved upon ^.^

Very nice, easy to follow. This was my first attempt at wrangling Photoshop, and for the most part, the tutorial was smooth. What is the best way to convert a single layer to grayscale, rather than the whole image?

Select the layer you want and then go images>adjustments>desaturate or images>adjustments>hue/saturation. The second option will allow you to adjust the saturation to your liking rather then just wiping it into gray scale if that's a better option for you

I've personally never used Gimp so I can't offer much help. There are a lot of Gimp specific tutorials on DA which would probably be of more help.
