Description Take on a red dragon? No prob. He has checked his Monster Manual and apparently this dragon has a low Will save, and his purple eyes will give him a +5 Charisma bonus.

haha.

So my friend and I each took a "favorite series that no one we know has read" and swapped them, and so now I'm reading R.A. Salvatore. This is from the last book of the Dark Elf Trilogy, where Drizzt is all for facing off against some dragon and the monks are thinking, omg, this guy is nuts.

Ennywai
I'm enjoying the books immensely, (although it kind of feels like I'm watching a very emotionally charged D&D campaign) and Drizzt is basically awesome.

....also, that light is probably coming from a candle. which is invisible. uh

the light is coming from the book, perhaps?
i've never read the series, so i dont know if this character is good or bad, or i would make up some deep symbolic junk about it symbolizing the acquisition of forbidden knowledge or power ir whatever

beautiful drawing, just wouldn't be the same without the almost sinister shadows dancing across his features xD what is the series about?

he's sort of one of those conflicted ones, if i recall....bad background, trying to be good. jeez, it's been so long since i've read it i don't even remember XD all i really remember was that he was a dark elf who didn't get along with his family or something so he ran off to go do hero-y things. or something...

I... totally thought that was Jesus and he was trying to convert Drizzt. But then I scrolled down. XD; I love it though!

That... has got to be the most adorable/enthusiastic Drizzt I have ever seen. Also, his hair is made of amazing and win at the same time. <3. That is all.

OMG in the middle of that scene, one of the monks actually says-- where'd I put it, I just finished it, like, last week... under the bed, aha! Okay, I dog-eared the page because it cracked me up so much:

One of the monks actually says, "He has got a measure of fortitude, that one!" And all I could think was, "Oh I get it 'Fortitude.' Yep. Nice. Yo, Drizzt! Roll a spot check! See if this dragon's got anything useful lying around."

IMHO the books "after" those three-- that is, the original books, beginning with Crystal Shard --are less like, as you say, "emotionally charged D&D campaigns" and more like true adventure novels. I'm still working my way through Halfling's Gem, but so far the quality of the writing has only been going up.

Anyway, I have to agree with ShadedRogue here: That hair is crazy awesome!
And Drizzt's expression? "OMG DRAGON! U GAIZ I have the best idea EVAR!!1!1one" and the other dude's all "Okay, Drizzt. Just give me the book-- and the pixie stix --before you get us all killed."

That was a pretty cool scene

Great job!

All I can think of is 'zomg his hair?' XDD That part of the book was so awesome. He always has the best encounters with dragons.

lovely description of the scene you did, both in text and the crazy picture haha. lovin' it
so I have β€œread” (audio book) the third book recently and must say the dragon quest was fun even if I don't quite understand why did Drizzt had to go trough the trouble since the dragon was sleeping anyway. so let's say the red one would have woken up and scorch their sneaky asses, but Drizzt made him mad in the end too so I really don't see the practical side of the encounter unless it is the way you've put it: a daredevil with lavender eyes, honing charisma and adding up a new level of confidence we put in the char's abilities
and he wanted none of the treasures, tsk tsk

oh well, it's Drizzt
