H'ok, here's a new one...
finally getting to some character interaction. Sorry for the constantly changing style of the characters...this will probably go on for a while as I try to pin down what I want them to look like. let me know what's good and what's not
a couple people have commented that they don't really look like the canon characters, which is true...but it is an au, so that's kind of..intentional. (bc they look like chicks in canon.)lolzFirst: [link]

Haha, I love how Mello already has talked himself into disliking Near. x3 It's so like him, you really know his character.
Matt's so silly, calling Mel and Near weird, while he's definitely one of the strangest characters I've seen. xD 
And Near and his Rubix cube. x3 I love the little things you throw in there; it adds a lot to the characters.

yay, im happy this is being updated again
plus they finally met each other, which was interesting. what i absolutely loved about this strip was how completely REALITY TV it was- like how they try to shove conflict in your face. lol except that that just happens to be mello's personality, manufacturing conflict also. i love the 8th panel- "shut up near, i can't hear myself think over your incessant chattering." genius XD it made me laugh so hard.
i really can't wait to read and see where this goes! im hoping matt gets a little more time soon, he's kind of hung around in the background so far.

it always cracks me up to see different people's comments XD i've got Threshie on one side says Matt seems to have had the most airtime thus far, and you on the other saying he hasn't, hehehhe. that's not a criticism, i just think it's funny.
haha, i know what you mean about the conflict thing. i always wonder what the cast of these sorts of shows think when they first get to see how they and their interactions are portrayed--i bet it's nothing like they remember or experience it.
tbh, i do have some stuff worked out for matt, but it's probable that i will focus more on mello and near, just because we know more about their characters (and i like them better) so there was kind of more scope when i was starting to hammer out plot ideas. if you have any ideas for things that he could be up to, though, feel free to throw them out there

XD LOL--oh no, Mello and Near are misunderstanding each other already! Meanwhile, Matt gets along with both--go figure. 
I say keep the characters looking however you want them to look--they're definitely themselves by characterization, and between AU design differences and drawing style differences they could look much more different from the original designs than they do now, really.
Glad to see another edition of "Real Genii"! Near is still my favorite...

hehe, well, tbh, i had no intention of trying to make the characters look more canon just bc someone remarked on it. i made mello's hair long enough to ponytail bc i thought he wouldn't look at all like himself with short hair, but the haircut he has is so...not...male. lol but i have known guys with long straight hair like that who tie it back (and it's definitely hot).
thanks! hehe, near is my favorite too...it's very difficult for me in planning out the plot to not let that preference show through TOO much ^^

Now I'm going to make a time table on how often you update, that way I know when you're late or not.

i'll spare you the trouble and tell you--i don't update on a regular schedule. i just sort of do them as the time and inclination coincide, so the time between updates may range from a couple days to a couple months. especially since i'm graduating in less than a month, my schedule is kind of unpredictable :S i do sort of have some plot ideas i want to get through actually written out, but this is a hobby, not an obligation, so i can't really ever guarantee how far i'll get with these sorts of things or how quickly i'll get them done.

I was planning on going into Psychology, and looking into minoring in Accounting. I know, really different, haha.
And if that's something along the lines of a librarian, which I think it is, I wanted to do that when I was younger, haha. My career goals have changed, many times since I was little. x]

OH GOD.
Me and chemistry have never been a good mix, ever. I put my heart and soul into that class, and trying to understand and I only managed a C. I'm just not good at science in general, haha. Although I am pretty good with astronomy.
How did you go from that to Library and Information Sciences?

ohh, i love chemistry, i just hate applied math. XD haha, it's a really long and boring story...my main interest was linguistics, first the neuro-cognitive aspects of it, and later the more social and structural sides. later i realized that what i was headed toward was a life of research and that...didn't appeal to me at all...i wanted a job where i could have hobbies on the side and not be consumed by it, but still feel like i was contributing to the community and supporting myself. my mom's a librarian and i've always helped her at work, so it was something where i had some experience, and i'd like to eventually write picture books and fiction, so it seemed like a good position in which to keep an eye on the book market without having to be involved in business
