Excellent artistic design as well as good engineering design by including a connection between the blades, hand and wrist/forearm. Without that linear connection you would only have the strength of the hand and wrist. If you struck something very hard without the connection to the wrist you would be more likely to injure yourself - as well as only be able to bring a small amount of your full body force into play. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into the work - good job!
