Keen on seeking out knowledge and new experiences, Janus is a worldly young man with an affinity for solving riddles and puzzles. Known for his amiable disposition and charismatic mannerisms, Foresythe fits just about anywhere you put him, from the library, to the quidditch field. Above all, he prides himself on his intelligence and wit.
While he’s always ready to dish out compliments to friends and associates, Janus can hardly take a compliment without his cheeks catching fire, and tends to fumble a little when embarrassed, modest by nature.
While he isn’t afraid to meet and greet to establish a friendly basis with his peers, Janus tends to keep distance between himself and most others, often detached and off in his own world. His parents instilled in him that hardworking individuals were rewarded above all, but also nothing but his best would be acceptable when it came to education. Thus, Janus tends to be a bit obsessive about his grades. His strict upbringing also brought about much uncertainty about himself as well as a facade of constant friendliness and smiles, dubious and never truly being as transparent as he’d like to seem.
Background:
Janus was the first born to Caroline and Victor Foresythe, two alumni of the Ravenclaw house at hogwarts. Raised in a household full of high expectations, Janus did his best to make his parents proud, constantly told that nothing less than his best was acceptable. Much of his time as a child was spent alone, never really getting along with the other children due to a few key incidents that took place when he was a young boy. He once had a close friend in which he confided, but was unfortunate enough to have a rather traumatic falling out with them, and since then has struggled to foster any lasting friendships. When his younger brother Eric was born, Janus struggled to cope with the realization that he’d have to share his parent’s attention with another. Even so, the resentment that initially bloomed slowly faded into the background as Eric proved to be his only saving grace in the lonely years at home that followed.
Caroline and Victor then took to homeschooling Janus for a few years before he received his letter to hogwarts and was sent off as a first year to join the ranks of fledgling wizards and witches. With him, he took Apollo, a young crow he had found the previous year, fallen from its nest. There, he was appropriately sorted into Ravenclaw, along with the countless other knowledge savvy peers that he would come to know as friends in the next five years of his schooling. That being said, by no means did Janus restrict himself to befriending other ravenclaws, but spread his figurative wings out amongst the whole of hogwarts, thus becoming that boy that most everyone at least knew by name if by nothing else.
Priding himself on his intellect, Janus was nearly lightheaded with elation in the first days of his schooling, each new discovery more spectacular than the last. A great love of his to this day is the entrance to the ravenclaw housing- solving the riddles eagerly and being proactive with his peers in an attempt to open the path with their united genius. It was also in this year that he began going to great lengths hiding his own imperfections, such as his disdain for homosexuals. He would openly treat all students with the same standing, regardless as to if their sexuallity was blatantly obvious or not. Janus’s aim is to be a model student, and he is well aware that in order to progress and achieve great success it is not a goal that can be reached alone.
