Haruka doesn't remember much from when he was very young- only that a Kitsune-Tsukai named Tsunade had come to possess his pipe and given it as a gift to a royal family. He quickly became fond of the child princess, who in turn was fond more so of Haruka. In the future, each respective owner would come to give him a new name or accept the one he chose to keep, being Haruka, courtesy of the young princess. It was with her that he first learned what friendship was.

Years later, still bound to his pipe, the family was pulled into a territorial dispute, and a warlord laid siege to the castle. During the escape, the young princess somehow lost her grip on Haruka's pipe, and after that, Haruka never saw her again. After weeks of laying off to the side of an unused road- a young man, a ronin fighting against the corrupt regime, found the pipe and took it home to his family, interpreting it as a sign of good luck. With a sickly mother, four brothers and two sisters, a stern and well aged grandmother, and a dog, Haruka learned what having a family was;
the sacrifices made being a small price to pay for the laughter and company. The younger children tried to name him Dongo, much to Haruka's dismay. For years, he helped around the house and assisted with raising the children- and even witnessed a marriage or two. However, the eldest brother's past came back to bite him; with his grandmother and mother already passed on, the ronin and what was left of his family were all captured and executed publicly for treason.

The pipefox then came into the possession of a greedy official, looking to please a wealthy lord who had recently gained favor with the emperor. As a display of his loyalty- he offered the antique to the Lord, speaking of a dormant spirit within that would bring good fortune, only because he tried for years to make the pipe fox show itself to no avail. However, the Lord took little interest in the dusty trinket and instead handed it over to his younger, sickly brother, hardly fifteen years old and bedridden. Up until this point, Haruka had spent years ignoring the outside, consumed by his hatred for the self destructive nature and greed of man. Somehow, this boy managed to convince Haruka to come out- and although he was very stubborn, the boy also managed to open his heart again.
With a cardiovascular disease that left him unable to move about easily, the boy was ridiculed for being a burden on his brother, but never faltered with his warm nature and manners; It was with him that Haruka learned what patience was.
Haruka slowly gained faith in the people around him, appearing as a human most of the time to assist the boy- together they took steps forward, and achieved great things; The boy had the opportunity of falling in love and getting married, well past the date that doctors had diagnosed his 'expiration date'. Both he and Haruka were inseparable, but after boy finally married the love of his life, the pipe fox did not get the chance to grant him any other wishes.

Haruka stayed with his friend until the very end, and their friendship would continue to stay in his heart long after. Instead of staying with the boy's family, he followed the recently widowed woman. However, it wasn't long before desperation drove her to more pressing matters than loyalty or friendship. Her mother convinced her to sell the pipe fox, and so she did tearfully- to a strange, rich old drunkard who made it a hobby of his to collect things no one else wanted. His family had long since left him and wanted nothing to do with him because of his lecherous and pervasive ways. He frequented brothels- and when he wasn't outside fooling around or getting drunk, he was getting drunk and rambling at home. Haruka stayed home among the old man's belongings, cleaning when ever he could- However, as he had done before, he became mutually attached to the old man who seemed dead set on making up for the fact that he had been such a terrible father by bonding with Haruka. It was from him that Haruka learned what loyalty was.

The old man began bringing Haruka to brothels regularly, his lecherous behavior rubbing off on the pipe fox. Spouting nonsense about being appealing to the eye, he improved Haruka's previously non-existent sense of fashion, as well as the manner in which he dealt with girls. Despite the many lesson's given to him as a fellow bachelor from the old man, Haruka fell deeply in love with one of the girls at the brothel. He was never sure of anything more than their love, and went out of his way to visit her at night even when it was forbidden. Although she couldn't be his, he devoted himself to making her smile and laugh. After months, Haruka asked her to run away with him, and the day before it was to take place, he told his master of his plans, thinking he would approve of his 'living in the moment and following his heart'. However, the Old man had the exact opposite reaction and was clearly outraged. Haruka could not understand why, and shortly after their argument, stormed out of the house.
Haruka went to the spot he and the geisha had agreed upon, but after hours of waiting, It was evident that she wasn't coming...and possibly never had any intention to do so. He went back to find her- but when he tried, she was no where to be seen. The pipe fox later learned of his master having had a hand in her disappearance. Haruka was infuriated, and said hurtful things to the Old man despite already knowing that it was a lie, and that the woman he had loved made the decision to never see him again for the sake of living in comfort and riches. It was from her that Haruka learned what Love was, and how wonderful yet terribly damaging it was to the unprotected heart.
The Old man had tried to warn Haruka against giving his heart to a woman like that, as the same thing had happened to him years ago- effectively tearing his family apart. Haruka saw the old man less and less, and one night, he simply failed to return home.
From this, Haruka came to recognize a reoccurring emotion he had failed to acknowledge over the years; What it meant and how it felt to be abandoned.
From loving all his masters before, It was from them that Haruka came to know what loneliness was.

The Bathhouse
For years after, Haruka became accustom to wandering off by himself, utilizing his cunning nature to seduce women or simply flirt without reserve. For the first time in his long life, Haruka was truly on his own. There was something satisfying about being his own master- but also a bit saddening. Regardless, Haruka managed to find employment at the Bathhouse, thanks to the graciousness of the witch in charge of it. And so, the pipe fox began his professional career in cleaning, as well as singing-...At least while sweeping or taking baths. In recent years, hes become a familiar face and is on good terms with the majority of the people at the bath House (excluding the people who were spitting nails because of his perverseness)

- In the past, when he was younger, he would sleep in his pipe. Now a days, he prefers to keep his human form and sleep along side his co-workers.
- He enjoys singing horribly while cleaning for his own enjoyment; Is surprisingly skilled with the mop/broom, and has been cleaning for as long as he can remember
- He occasionally tries to sneak into girl's rooms to try and have fun; In the past he was a panty thief before he was caught and forced to 'Mend his ways'
