This costume needs more work by my opinion. I made it last year for Brenden (my 8 year old), and was my first attempt at making a costume. This year, it's clear to me that this thing is a pain for little ones to wear...not quite kid friendly.Now, Marcus was more recognizable than Brenden for who he was dressed up as. Either way, this Halloween was a ton of fun. ^_^
I made this one out of 4 red aprons that their dad had brought home and never used again. They turned out to be the perfect material for Inuyasha's haori, but I need to outfit this thing with some closures to make it more wearable for kids.
The wig was bought last year and I cut off the forelocks to fit the character. The ears also need to be redone as I'm just not happy with them: they're too small and far too hastily sewn on. Still, Marcus was happy with it.
I want to make Marcus a Shippo costume for next year...the personality fits to a T.

Of course they know! I have certainly subjected them to the episodes enough. Brenden really wanted to be Hiei, and the Inuyasha costume was already ready to go. lol To this day (two years later...) the kid still wants to wear his "Hiei cloak".

This is just too cute for words! The haori looks awesome and so does the wig. The ears do droop a little but I really think it adds to the char and the pose. Inu did have a tough childhood after all. Awesome work!

That is absolutely adorable! I love it. I have a question. The wig, is it an adult size wig? Did it fit ok on your son? I want to make my son Near for a con this spring, but...I'm not so sure about the wig deal.

Yes, it is an adult size wig. The cheaper ones are made on an elastic cap, so it fit okay, but it did slip off after a little bit because he kept shoving the hair out of his eyes. 
I'm kinda toying with the idea of making little cuts in this wig to slip headband ears in instead of sewing them directly on like I have it now. That way, I can use larger ears for a Youko wig without needing to buy another white wig.
