I often wonder what the Baratheon brothers thought of each other.
Stannis said clearly that he did not love robert nor did robert love him. And yet, Stannis honored him as the older sibling and head of their family, he fought for Robert when he called.
And Stannis, perhaps he thought that Renly would have done the same for him, to be the loyal younger sibling and come to aid of the elder.
Instead brother fought brother.

Looking at this, I realize that the task of raising Renly really fell to Stannis in the long run. Renly was but a babe when their parents died and Robert was...well...Robert. So, really Stannis was the only member of the family responsible enough to look out for him.

Stannis there demonstrates to have a heart bigger than really shows off. I am charmed with the illustration!
