Alright, I might slip them into my story instead of Giorgio Vasari. Though I might need Giorgio, though.
Where did you find the dates of birth?

I'm not on my personal computer so I don't have the bookmark, but there was a book on googlebooks that listed the birth order of his children, and with a book of his letters in chronological order and help from Don Macdonald , I put it together? There are only birthdates for Primerana (1502) and Bernardo (1503), and the rest are guesses from context (and that one book's listing, which seems fairly accurate based on correspondence context). For example, Bernardo and Lodovico were close in age because in a letter from 1520 (approx, no books on me atm for citations) that "they were both becoming men" and were both old enough to write Giovanni Vespucci (Niccolo's much older foster son) letters, where Guido and Piero (who were probably born at that point) weren't old enough to be mentioned in important correspondence or write letters themselves. (Obviously daughters didn't write letters so everything about them is guesswork, sighs deeply)

basically that was a long way of saying: finding their birth order was hellishly frustrating and I'm not 100% sure it's accurate

I've tried to find out more in my sister's literature book - nothing.
Anyway, I just wanted to know because I just knew about the first two, and as I'm writing a story in which Niccolò will eventually appear, and he has already been mentioned, and the main characters are Flavia and Marcello, well surely they must be in good terms with at least one or two of the Machiavelli kids, right?

Probably; I don't know the year your story takes place in, but it was pretty common for kids to just get ignored until they were old enough to work or study, so... probably?

Well my story starts in 1524, but it takes place in years - just to set an example, Chapter 9 is all in the last days of November of 1526.

Ooh... so it's close to when Niccolo died (1527)... well, I know Bernardo and Lodovico were old enough at that point to be sent on diplomatic missions and forget to write home, and Guido was in the middle of his studies I think? I have no clue about Piero... and Totto was just born recently... I don't know when Baccina and Primerana got married hmmm that requires some research...

This is an old thread but I love it so I'm going to comment pbbbtttt.

From what I can tell, having read about a half dozen Machiavelli biographies (puts on glasses), Primerana died when she was two or three; in the only preserved letter from Marietta, she mentions that their daughter is sick, and then Primerana is never mentioned again, and there are no records of her marriage (being the daughter of an important diplomat, she almost certainly would have married when she came of age). Next are Bernardo (an affable charmer) and Lodovico (who had a mean temper) shortly afterward, followed by Guido (who was apparently the most like his father), then proooobably Baccina? She survived to adulthood, and her son (whose name I can't remember) is credited with saving most of Machiavelli's correspondences and writings. Piero probably died in infancy (we know for sure that Niccolò was survived by four sons and one daughter, and the other boys are accounted for) and Totto (named for Niccolò's younger brother) is the baby. Bernardo and Lodovico were forced (probably kicking and screaming) to get jobs when they were around seventeen and sixteen, as the family was pretty financially strapped by that point. Niccolò's nephew, Giovanni, floats in and out of the picture (he was apparently irresponsible and Niccolò was always worried about his nephew's finances), but seems to have been close enough to his cousins that he could relay news about them when Niccolò was away from home.

...So, anyway. Cough. I've written my own stories about Flavia and Marcello hanging with the Machiavelli kids, it's quite fun XD (FlaviaxGuido- I ship it. I ship it hard.)

Ohh-kay, I officially mentioned Lodovico, Bartolomea, Guido and Piero in Chapter 11.
Though the chapter is still WIP.

Yeah. In 1526 died a man I dubbed as Niccolò's apprentice. (AND Marcello's teacher)
