Description EDIT:
A Daily Deviation!!!! I can't express how much this means to me. And so many suggestions! I want to thank all of you!

And apologies from those who can't have a webcam, and can't test it now. Still, you can download it, and try it at a later date.

Do you like the Portal games, and have always wanted to own a Sentry TURRET???
Now it's possible and it's totally free with this interactive motion tracking version.
You only need a computer and a webcam.

How to use?
1. Allow your webcam usage to the program.
2. Step back to give some space to the turret.
3. Hide somewhere or move, the turret will react to your moves.
4. It'll keep your room from intruders, until you turn it off.
5. Enjoy!

Or

CLICK HERE to watch the tutorial video, how to use it in your own room.

This is a fan work, all sounds and original designs are the property of VALVE SOFTWARE.

If you like it try out my other interactive killing machnes!

I still am, and still will, be laughing at the cuteness of this Turrent! LOLOLOLOLOLOL! I've been into the portal series for nearly two months, and not really sure how I got into it, point is, in the second game as you get past the turrent redemption line, and there's that "different" Turrent whom claims that her name's Caroline, and doesn't kill you, this is what this pic/literature/interactive webcam reminds me of, therefore, being pure, pure genious!!!! I know you may hear that its genous all the time, but that's because its true, however to add to the genous part is, that its also impressive for being interactive and also for this pic to be a DD, so congrats dude, I'm now more into portal than ever before, e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Lick)"/>
Since I'm not that good with critiques (which could explain a lot) I'll conclude this one by saying that its just plain cute, no joke! :3

A wonderfully deviant piece of art right here.
Not just from the Portal fanboy that I am, but also in general, I will say this is an amazing little app.
First off, it's fairly difficult and annoying (from what I've heard and from what I've seen on other sites and by friends in real life who are programmers) to deal with coding that involves Webcams, especially with flash. Secondly, it's even harder to now turn that webcam into a motion-sensor. Yet you pulled it off, near-flawlessly (there is a little lag I noticed but that's going at high speeds so it's perfectly fine). While it's not the single mots unique thing, it's definitely an original idea (and I scour the intrawebz more than 8 hours a day) that I've yet to see.
As for the impact, you got a daily deviation and a favourite not just from me, but from thousands of other people, so it obviously made a heavy impact.

Wonderful job.

I actually never played Portal all the way through, and as such I am not as big a fan as others here may be, but that does not take away the awesomeness of the app. For me, what really did it is the accuracy of the targeting. I found myself running around my room trying to figure out where I could and couldn't hide. Also, the laser targeting is a really nice touch (and yes, I know they were already in the game, but I am referring to its accuracy and the fact that it shows that it actually knows where you are, and not just that it detects some random movement.) I may not be a programmer, but I can tell that took a lot of prior knowledge and skill. It makes me wonder what other technology can be adapted from video games.

This... is beyond awesome. As a moderately die-hard Portal fan, I have to say that I've honestly never seen anything quite like this before. Though I don't know much about the workings of this masterful piece of magic myself, I do realize that it required a very good knowledge of programming as well as a great artistic sense, and as such you executed it perfectly. The only reason I gave only four stars on "Originality" is because the turret itself as well as the sound files I am assuming you used were both created by Valve. To me, of course, the fact that it is Portal-inspired only makes it that much better, but I still can't give full points for a completely original concept. All in all, incredible work, good sir. You have much talent, and I look forward to hopefully seeing similar work in the future.

Hello sir, i would have clicked the "unfair" button, but the things i agree with out-way the ones i disagree with, or in this case, one thing i disagree with.Β  You say that you gave this 4 star because of the sound files coming from the game and not from himself.Β  I for one like the fact that he pulled them from the game to make it all the more real.Β  Without the original sound files, it just wouldn't be a portal turret.Β  I and several other all very much love this and think it is awesome.

TheQZ In reply to bluefunnymen [2014-06-09 18:26:16 +0000 UTC]

I believe you misunderstood. I did not say that it was bad because he used the sounds files from the game. I just said that I could not give him full credit in the "originality" department because he did not create every part himself. Original work is something that was conceived entirely by the artist, and the Portal turret and the sound files were both designed and created by people at Valve. I agree that without those sound files it would not be the same, and I still gave him 5-stars over all, but he did not create the sounds, nor did he invent the turret concept himself, so I cannot give him full credit for originality. Thanks for your reply!

Yes, it was a misunderstanding.Β  I am planning on making a novelty item using this on a Raspberry Pi which can run apps as stand alone (i think) and have a display type item.Β  It can also be used as an alarm for if it detects motion, it will wake up anyone in the house and scare off the intruder (hopefully)

I foresaw the day this would no longer be available for download, luckily I saved both programs for PC and Mac and burned them to a CD, I have dug up the CD and uploaded both versions to my onedrive in a single zip file, here is that file.
