Description
A remake of a birthday card that I did for my dad in 2015. This time I really wanted to make the fish actually look like a European perch and the sea weed to really look like Potamogeton perfoliatus (ahvenvita). Also, my original card has bubbles coming out of the fish's nostrils. Fish don't breathe dummy Also, I inked my drawing! It's been so SO long since I've inked any of my own works.Will be doing a meme of the two later.

This looks so cool! The lineart is very neat and the coloring is beautiful and soft. The shading is calm and creates a nice atmosphere, but still conveys the volume of the objects in it. The colors chosen also work well together.
I'll confess I don't know much about fish, but it also seems pretty anatomically accurate to me! The only things I'd change are that the eyes seem a little strange-- they're spherical and seem to rest on top of the head instead of coming out of it--, and the fin in the back seems a little too round and the lines on it seem a bit odd. However, this might just be what the fish looks like lol.
Another small thing is that the seaweed or plant in the back has oddly-shaped leaves. I'm not entirely sure why they curve at the top, and they way they're shaded make them look more spherical rather than flat, especially because of the round shape they have anyways. I looked up pictures of the plant and they didn't really seem to work on that, so I think varying up your textures and shading techniques might be a good idea

Yeah, I tried to stylize this heavily and maybe the eyes are a bit too far off. I was drawing this based on my original design of 2015 so maybe I didn't think it completely through. The same goes for the seaweed. I had a bit of trouble figuring out how to best draw them and make them look like the original seaweed that I wanted. Maybe I simplified a bit too much. I'm still kind of trying to figure out where my style should go.

yep, I get it! I didn't really realize it was stylized because the anatomy and coloring seems pretty much realistic, but then again, it's hard to stylize a fish. Anyways, it looks great!
