Description
Character idea for a Moon Tribe princess named Shizuka. I have a fanfic idea I’ll probably have to set in Okami’s past, since the Moon Tribe is basically dead now… her design is sort of a combination between Otohime, becauce I love her design, and Kaguya, since she’s Kaguya’s older sister. (I’m assuming Kaguya is a princess because of her association with the royal crest.) She has a naginata-staff thing, and the royal crest on her pendant and crown. At any rate, she and Waka are involved somehow, and I’m probably going to base the story largely on the Tale of the Heike. (Shizuka Gozen was one of Yoshitsune’s mistresses in legend.)I’ll color this once I find some colored pencils…

Well instead of a princess, she's a priestess. She's like Waka's happy-go-lucky sidekick and instead of wielding a 'flutesaber' like Waka and Kurow, she uses trowing knives (that glow of course) and prayer slips.

My Shizuka isn't a priestess, but she does have divine powers. Well, not exactly divine, but powers. She can change the weather by dancing. I loved that part in the story of Shizuka Gozen.

IKR! Aside from the basic priestess powers, she just relies on her badass trowing knifes. I found out about Shizuka Gozen while I was looking up Yoshitsune's story, almost immediately thought of my OC.

I would give my Shizuka throwing knives, but I just love the aesthetic of the naginata. She can't actually fight with one very well, but she tries. XD She's more of a strategist than a physical fighter. That's her brother's job.

Ah that's cool, and she is in a sense. She's like Waka's right hand (wo)man and helps him out and travels with him from time to time. But, she's more like a sister/friend companion than a mistress XD She's also so a bit of a dancer, but I don't focus on that too much because I also have been creating an Ame no Uzume OC. I don't know as much about Shizuka Gozen as I would like, but hopefully I'll learn more and maybe contribute it to her.

My Shizuka is sort of stuck at the palace, but once she gets the opportunity, she is more than happy to leave with Waka for adventures and battle on the moon.

Well, most of Kaguya's life was on Earth... and there's an awkward plot hole I'm trying to figure out how to work with. Waka came to Nippon about 200 years before Okami, escaping the disaster that befell the Moon Tribe. Kaguya, then, should have been sent to Nippon around the same time, because otherwise she would have been exterminated or gone somewhere else. (And in some versions of the original legend, Kaguya-hime was sent to Earth to escape a celestial war.) So she's been living with Mr. and Mrs. Bamboo for 200 years...?
Otherwise... maybe she and a few other Moon Tribe people managed to escape on a ship or something, and came back a few years later to repopulate the moon. Then, maybe two or three decades before Okami, something else bad happened and the young Kaguya was sent to Nippon for protection. Those old enough to fight and stand their ground remained on the moon. Meanwhile, perhaps a few--including Sugawara?--went to build the Daidarabotchi to protect themselves... or Nippon. I don't know, so many weird things. 8| It's going to take a while to get the conflict sorted out.
The nice thing about writing in the future is that I can work off of the past, and the story's ending doesn't need to tie into anything. I also don't have to worry about coming up with a satisfying ending after the Moon Tribe's near complete demise. But there's a lot of interesting stuff to think about in the past...
Um... ranting aside, the colors. The outer robe-jacket thing is a cool medium-ish purple, the robe under that is light blue with purple lining and pink-to-orange layers underneath, and the hakama underneath it all is... either white or some light color, whatever looks best. (I haven't colored it myself yet so I'm not really sure. It's subject to change, so just do what looks nice with this rough color palate.) The chrysanthemums on the outer robe are gold. I think the obi (belt) should be light blue with green bamboo, I guess. And the bamboo leaves on her crown and pendant are green.
You're totally free to tweak the colors if you think something else would look better, but I want this rough color scheme and mostly medium or pale colors, with a few darker accents perhaps.

Things you missed:
-really long sleeves
-royal crest pendant (just the main part--look up the Moon Tribe on the Okami wikia)
-scarf-shawl thing (like Sakuya or Himiko)
-two extra robes underneath (like a junihitoe)
-the staff is actually a naginata (you can't see it well since I ran out of room)
And also the eyes and hairline are sort of crooked.
But otherwise it's great. :3 I can't wait to see it done!
