Fan I painted for my mother as a Christmas present. I've always wanted to paint orchids in this style because I admire their simplicity and elegance. I haven't had much experience with flowers, though, so I definitely need more practice. As for the leaves... well, they're fairly simple on plain paper, but there's still an art to them, and transferring such long, graceful, arm-guided strokes to a ridged surface was quite a challenge. I'm quite pleased with how they came out.Painted with sumi ink.
