Description This is a wedge-tailed eagle skeleton i found while walking around the bush. It was in perfect condition and the bones were loverly and white. All i did was dip the bones in some bleach before putting it together. It was most annoying trying to make it stand up and balance. Was also annoying because the bird had not been dead for that long so there were still oils present. The oils stopped the glue from sticking the bones together. My method of coping with this was to just wait. In the warm whether the oils slowly disappeared and the glue was then able to stick. I kept the leathery skin on the talons. Makes it look a bit more fierce.

hopefully you dont have young children, siblings or any other of the kind around, or as i can guess it wont stay whole for very long no matter how many times you put it together

Great job putting it together, not looked at skeletons much, quite fascinating.

Thanx, its amazingly quite light for the size the skeleton. Its quite interesting how some of the bones slot together. It was the hardest putting each rib in the correct place.

I am not surprised that it is light, what do the full adult birds weigh? perhaps 4 kilo's.

yeah, females are larger than males, averaging 4.2kg in weight and occasionally reaching 5.3kg. Males usually weigh about 3.2kg but may reach 4.0kg. I was also surprised with the size of the skeleton. i thought it would be bigger. i guess the feathers and muscle add a lot of size though.

Aye, any bird when fluffed up looks twice the size of its sleeker self.
