Very dramatic indeed! Where exactly is this? (We're going to be visiting North Devon as part of our holiday next week.)

Oh yes I remember now! Way back we were there and Richard took analogue photos of it back then! I though it looked familiar, and now I can picture exactly how it was then

We went for our holiday, saw the awful conditions of the Inn we were booked into, and just came home again! (It was only a three hour journey each way.) Everywhere was fully booked! Anyway the weather has really turned sour on us, so no real loss after all. Another time perhaps

Never thought of asking as I didn't know exactly whereabouts you live. We had originally intended to stay on the North coast of Devon/Somerset - Watchet was our first choice, but everywhere we tried up in that area was fully booked. We were looking for self-catering too. Then we thought we'd look further inland, and came across the Riverside Inn at Bovey Tracy where we had previously had a really good meal and loved the place very much. They had one room free, so we booked it, not knowing how it had deteriorated since we were last there, which might have been about 10 years ago. We did try some other places in that area too, but they were all fully booked, including static caravans.

On top of that though, our daughter and partner have been at our house all week, and in the situation we found ourselves at the Riverside, it really hit hard that "what were we doing in this dump when we could be enjoying time together back home in any case". We only see our daughter about 4 times a year, as she lives up in Stalybridge (Manchester area). So we came back home, and quite honestly it was the best thing we could have done, as we've had some really lovely times together this week.

We took a day trip over to Porlock and that area on Wednesday, and that was lovely - though no photos as the weather was totally closed in on us. I think our next holiday will be next year, when we hope to get up to Plockton in Scotland if we can find suitable accommodation. We may consider West Country again for later next year, so if you can suggest some good self-catering accommodation that might be helpful. Thing is, I used to live at Chilsworthy (Nr. Holsworthy) many many years ago in a "previous life", when I was helping manage a farm with an abusive previous husband! There are lots of places I've known well, but there are also many places I never visited back then. Same with Cornwall, as I used to have relatives living on Bodmin Moor! To be honest, I do prefer to get the hell out of the South of England when I can! Too many unhappy memories in some places.

The slope of the shoreline makes the image look tilted even though it's not. A very nice image with a great foreground.

Also although your signature kind of works with this image because it has an otherworldly feel to it, I think it will contrast with most of your other images.

Well I am not much of a designer so I can't offer anything terribly enlightening but I would say that simple is definitely better.
