It's the year of the horse, my friends and therefore I'm spitting out horse art right and left! I'm very inspired to draw horses for some reason and I can't seem to stop sketching them and coloring them. Anyway, this horse here is one of my dream horses to own someday. I LONG to own a blue roan! They are so absolutely beautiful. This one is inspired by a blue roan stallion who goes by the name Continental King. I just love him and blue roans in general. I know somebody who owns one of these beauties! I'd give anything to own one myself! Ahh, maybe someday! So yeah, this one in particular I decided to attempt to draw some Western tack on him. I hope this one turned out okay! I hope you guys enjoy it! Thank you in advance for any comments and/or faves! You know I always appreciate them so much!

He's really smart, sometimes too smart. He'd do anything for a treat, I've taught him to park out, lower his head, push barrels around with his nose, open/close gates an currently we're working on bowing

Haha I'm in the processes of teaching my girl to bow, so that's pretty awesome! Sounds like you have done a lot of with him. Keep up the good work and have lots of fun! I've been told all my life that with horses you have to a total of two things; patience and a sense of humor, especially when you're in the saddle! LOL!

Mokey has got his quirks, just like any other horse. But his goods out weigh the bad which is awesome. His biggest thing is he doesn't like the vet, luckily he only has to see her once a year for his shots! His other one is he kicks at the stall walls when eating his grain, but that's because he was neglected before I got him. Was left in a pasture full of horses with only enough food to feed a few, so he had to learn to fight for it, and sometimes he still thinks he has to.

Oh yes. All horses have their quirks, but in most cases the good always outweighs the bad, especially if you have a strong connection and bond with your horse, which I do with Velvet. Awww, bless his little horsey heart.

Haha, well it's not really his skin. It's his coat! Horses have a thin layer of fur (when it's not a thick winter coat haha!) that compliments their own, unique color, but thank you so very much!!
Seriously, thank you so very much again. I sure tried! I really wanted to try my hand at drawing tack (saddle and bridle on the horse) and that was the hardest and most challenging but fun part!

Yessir it sure is and they sure do! LOL! Haha, yes yes, it does! In the spring, they completely shed their winter coats and have a very sleek look to their coats. Their hair is very short throughout the spring/summer and then early fall is when they begin to grow a longer coat. Their winter coats protect their skin in the winter and keep them warm and dry.

See the difference? She's super furry like a stuffed animal! lol But when she doesn't have a winter coat, it's very smooth and sleek and shiny.
